Again stupid move in testing Calado and the racer, i can't write his name correctly.

Nothing against their talent - bu no one knows them outside of the extreme motorsport fan group!

They need guys like Kubica, Wurz, Heidfeld or something like this.
Even if they fail to win, it will be much more Buzz around them!

Real motorsport and series like the DTM are about promoting talent, not popularity.

And names like Wurz, Heidfeld and Kubica are otherwise contracted anyway.

Teams want drivers with victory hunger, they have learnt in the recent years that youngsters usually perform better than big names.

I think it was a long time ago, when DTM was about "real motorsport". Its some kind of "show" now.
So they should better the show, than rather "promoting talents". I think Paul di Resta was last Talent, who was promoted from DTM to F1, but not really because of DTM-title.

Ralf Schumacher and David Coulthard are more recognised names and might be better overall brand ambassadors to Mercedes and DTM than Pascal Wehrlein or Dani Juncadella, but how did the likes of DC or RSC cruising around in midfield help make the "show" any better?

In fact, BMW, Audi and Mercedes have all realised they can do better than just blindly following the lowest common denominator, and they should be applauded for that.

DTM is doing a good enough job at aping F1 to the extreme, no need to have the washed-out F1 stars on the top of it.

DTM success is always judged upon amount of spectators and newspaper articles.
I do see, how talented and fast some of the "young guns" are. But a Pascal Wehrlein can only produce some headlines in the local newspaper of his hometown.
And the spectators come to see a "big name" struggeling or doing a good show (as may Hans-Joachim Stuck did in 1990 - also former F1-driver then).

You can see, from Timo Glock, how much the fans have waited for his first victory and how much "sound" it had made in newspapers etc.

And to be honest - if you are a "young gun" without luck in DTM, you will be out of the game. If you have luck in DTM, you might have the opportunity to go in F1 - if you have some heavy sponsor behind you.
DTM might be the first and last station to earn at least a bit of money (other classes you have to bring the money with you)

For me it is clear, there aren't many series with the DTM average quality and for me is one of the series attractive. Practically all the drivers in the current lineup have been top 5 in F3 or WSR, no pay drivers here. Most of those talented drivers would be at home if it wasn't for DTM, here they get a wage for racing instead of paying ridiculous amounts to get a drive.

Priaulx's performance in the WTCC and M3 GT2 was impressive for me. In the DTM? Eh, not so much.

Does anyone know what the TV coverage will be like next year (in the uk)? With no British round will ITV4 still carry the highlights? If not will races be available anywhere else (or online via the DTM website after the event)? I'm not so bothered about live coverage (too busy to watch much on the way of live motorsport on tv) but I do like to watch the races when I get a chance.

It carries races live and in full afterwards with English commentary. Even if it's not on terrestrial TV, you can still follow the series.

Is he taking the Red Bull backing with him to DTM? Given that he's been passed over for the Torro Rosso seat are they keeping him in the fold or ejecting him? If he does keep the Red Bull sponsorship what does that mean for the Audis? Will they keep the Red Bull backing?

they're keeping him in the fold. this is to get him experience in "professional" motorsport, though you can't help but think if he bombs for whatever reason he may find himself on the dole at the end of '14.

i'm not sure what it means for the audis. perhaps it's an entirely different section of red bull doing the spending on the juniors, and it won't be affected.

I think it is a really good step for AFdC, moving into a professional racing series rather than just banging his head against the door of F1.

How about Paul di Resta? Since India Force has Nico and possibly Perez. It's only a matter of time for di Resta to lose his seat. Or is he so confident that he can win the contract from Sutil and Sergio? I hope he returns to DTM

A sad day indeed. A three-time World Champion and a German driver are replaced by a billywhatshisname, who will just be another corporate puppet from Formula racing and arguably a capable GT driver...from Belgium. So much for creating "people", who people want to see at track and on TV.
