There were no TC2 Turbo SEATs (or any 'TC2 turbo cars') on the grid last season in ETCC. The SEATs last season were the older normally aspirated cars, with the diesel having been banned.

I'd wager the TC2T version of the SEAT would be quicker than the BMW turbo, as was proven last year with the cars run by ALL-INKL, Tuenti Racing etc. in the WTCC.

Yep, in the hands of a good team the T2CT Leons would definitely be competative in ETCC.

Also surprised no team from WTCC moved here though it could have been a good chance to sit out the 2014 season.

Judging from the entry list, my prediction
1) TC2T - Karamyshev vs Homola\Engstler
2) TC2 - Fulin vs nobody
3) SMT - Pfister vs nobody, though a few youngsters may surprise

Chevy dominance is not a surprise, but didn't expect such pace from Skuz

Qualifying wise the top 10 are:

1. Karamyshev 1:33.964
2. Skuz (+1.057)
3. Engstler (+1.529)
4. Homola (+2.150)
5. Kiss (+2.706)
6. Grachev (+3.032)
7. Fulin (+3.134)
8. Bragin (+3.992)
9. Matejovsky (+4.234)
10 Pfister (+4.271)

The (nice) surprise for me is Norbert Kiss in the Alfa - qualified top TC2 car in fifth, faster than Grachev and Biter in the TC2T BMWs and 4/10s faster than Fulin.

From what I can remember Skuz tends to qualify better than he races so hopefully behind Karamyshev they will be a good battle between Skuz, Engstler and Homola in Race 1.

Should be a walkover for Karamyshev. Expected TC2T BMWs to be faster, to be honest. Don't really expect to see Skuz battle for the victory. Surprised by Kiss' performance too

I noticed that Biter was running some funky windowframes on his (ex-ROAL) BMW, well visible on the picture below next to Fulin's 'normal' BMW:

Does anybody know what their function is?

Is it possible, that he uses carbonfiber doors? Or maybe at least some kind of lexan windows?

That was also my first idea, but then I read that the BMW's are complaining about their high weight. So I doubt they're allowed to run those?

Since last year they are allowed:
Quote:
27 April 2013 09:08 CARBON FIBRE DOORS FOR THE BMW CARS
The WTCC competitors who run in BMW 320 TC cars have been allowed from this event to mount three carbon fibre doors, providing the driver’s door remains the original one.
The decision was taken by the FIA Touring Car Committee, upon a request from BMW Motorsport, to help teams to reach the minimum weight of 1150 kilos. In the same decision the Committee rejected the request to remove the hat rack, because this meant cutting part of the body shell.
Six BMW cars out of the seven entered in the WTCC Race of Slovakia benefitted from this decision, while Franz Engstler will have to wait until the next races in Budapest.

That was the case in WTCC, but apparently they revised that again for ETCC this year:

I think ETCC is more fun to watch than WTCC so far. The variety of cars and talent of drivers makes it fun .

Has the Alfa got any more waivers (except the extended homologation)? If not, someone please give Norbert Kiss a drive in WTCC!
