Looks like STCC's plan for "New streetrace, new manufacturers and more cars for 2016" backfired. No new streetrace on the calendar, doesnt look like there will be a new manufacturer and we are looking at a couple less cars then last years already thin grid.

On the positive side, looks like more or less anyone can just rent a car for a weekend, no matter how slow you are, and still be in with a realistic chance of scoring points! Maybe I should cancel our holiday plans and save some money...

They really need to switch to TCR ASAP... every year spent with the TTA-cars damages their credibility further.

Just look at what TCR is doing for touring car racing in the Benelux, where it had been - for all intents and purposes been completely dead since 2009.

Yes, I'm starting to agree with you, TCR is the obvious better option right now, they should switch to TCR for 2017, its a no-brainer really.

While it sure looks good lets wait a year or two before we call it a success. The BMW 1-series cup and the Dutch GT4 had hugely succesfull first seasons as well, before collapsing under costs and politics. While I don't think the same will happen with TCR it is something they have to be very careful of.

Big surprise. Looks like there may be some sort of Seat involvement.

I've seen the car and it's no hack job. It's proper new design and it looks awesome.

Looks like I spoke too soon, but its still just an exisitng team swithich manufacturer, so no more cars on the grid. The most interesting part in taht whole article:

"Part of the plan for the team with SEAT is to acuire a TCR specification SEAT León in preparation of the previously hinted switch for STCC from TTA regulations to TCR in 2017 or 2018."

Great to hear. I was worried the design would be a 9-3 body with some Seat headlights.

This must have been the most quiet off season ever for STCC, only one week left till the first official pre-season testing, and we dont even have 10 confirmed entries! :S

Alex K has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Could you shed some more light on the subject please?! I can only see four confirmed drivers, and five teams on official website.

Yeah sure. As you might know WCR will run the Volvo cars instead of Polestar racing (although I think they will oficially be called Polestar Volvo still).

Confirmed:

Volvo Polestar WCR Robert Dahlgren
Volvo Polestar WCR Carl Philip Bernadotte
Volvo Polestar WCR Richard Göransson
Dacia Dealer Team Mattias Andersson
SEAT PWR Emma Kimiläinen (Driver unconfirmed)
SEAT PWR Daniel Haglöf/Fredrik Larsson (Driver unconfirmed)

Likely:
KIA Brovallen Design Kevin Aabol
KIA Brovallen Design Rasmus Mårthen
BMW Wernersson Motorsport Andreas Wernersson
SAAB Team Tidö Henric Skoog
SAAB Team Tidö Roger Samuelsson

Thats it! I do however expect both Brovallen and WCR to pull out one or two late entries, as they usually do. But as it looks now we could very well see single digit numbers, if not for the whole season, atleast sometime during the year.

So how was it, both Volvo and KIA looking at building TCR cars...?
