Falcon and Bimmer tangle right in front of us at the Elbow.

Both drive away but Safety Car is out.

Morcom will be lucky to catch the Safety Car queue.

Stuck behind a slower car.

It still seems absurd to me to get what is effectively a 30+ second penalty for making a .08 second error in what is supposed to be a 150 second stop, unless it was actually a .8 second error.

Maybe if the infraction is under a second or something like that, the penalty could be having to wait an extra 10 seconds at the next pit stop... that would be more fair.

Just hoping in and out of live timing when I get a chance.
Seems a lot of safety cars.
The Toyota 86's seem to be pounding round, rarely pitting, and thus featuring way above the position you would expect for a 2:41+ lap time capability. Their times for the section across the top look pretty good. How do they look?

The error measurement is binary. It was either within the time allowed or it wasn't. There is no margin for discretion here. Nor should there be.

Its the same issue if it was 8 seconds not 0.08 seconds.

It missed..

Another Safety Car.

And the M4 is back on the lead lap.

The M4 is back on the lead lap... and it just got waved around by the safety car so it will be within 30 seconds of the leaders once the race gets going again. Could they actually manage to pull off a win? Of course, they'll have to work their way through the lapped traffic but there's still about two hours to go.

They're in the garage for another problem again, so I guess that's it.

How do the minimum pit stop time rules work if someone needs a splash and dash in the last few laps?

A splash and a slow dash.

If a car has done enough stops then there is no minimum time. At least, that's what I presume what that case would be (the regs don't say anything about pit stop times after the completion of all the CPS's)

Luke Searle is a bit of an unsung hero here... keeping up with the laptimes of Mr Mostert despite not having a regular gig.

He was a gun here a few years ago in the B12 in a Ferrari...

Wonder how he would go in a current GT...

Reindler just hit the Baird/Walden Mercedes and he's blown a tire.

He's now battling for the lead (and possibly the win) with Mostert.

Holy hell, Mostert just did an SVG, he passed the RX-8 with almost all four wheels on the grass at the second left hander at Reid Park. I've never seen that done before.

Oh my god, Baird's car just burst into flames on the main straight. SC is out with 20 minutes to go.

That is possibly (no hyperbole) the biggest engine failure I've ever seen live.

Mostert's car looks to have lost a lot of speed with only a few minutes to go, and the BMW has gotten by them.

Paul Morris has just become the first person to win the Bathurst 1000, the Bathurst 12 Hour and the Bathurst 6 Hour. Mostert took 2nd in the end.
