LM24 Le Mans TV

I heard somewhere that Speedvision had full 24 hour coverage of last years Le Mans and I was wondering if there were any plans for something similar over here. Something that I would like to tape, I don't think I could do the full 24hours!!!

Yes, it is ture in the USA Speenvision did carry flag to flag coverange of the last 2 year's Le Mans. Somehow I do not think this is going to happen in the UK, due to there not being enought channels to show it, that is unless you have a dish or cable. Channel 4 did do a good job this year with there throught the night coverage and I hope it is repeated next year, which I am to worried about it as I will be there in person for the first time, but I will get my mum to tape it for me, so I can relive it all when I get home.

Once you've been, rd, all the video does is enhance the memory. Nevertheless, it would be nice to see Channel 4 do the business again next year. (Nearly said "this year" - I wish!!).

How are you planning to do the trip, rd?

how about Radio Le Mans

I don't think there is anything better than the Eurosport coverage (will they be there next year?) - most national stations only give you the start, one or two 40min. summaries, and the last hour *yawn*

we are talking about a collection of Le Mans live TV coverage video tapes, if I am not mistaken...VHS or Beta?

(there used to be a third kind of tape, what was that called again...?)

What I meant was that in later years a video with full coverage would be a nice thing to have, much like footage of all Grand Prixs (or those since broadcast regularly on TV).

Cybersdorf I only have a VHS, I don't know about any other forms.

It is not exactly my area of expertise but wasn't the third system video-2000, a Philips invention (so naturaly it was the best option avalible, i don't know why it did not become mainstream)

Yeah, I vaguely remember Video-2000. Sunk without a trace, I think.

I've got at least one video of each year since 86. I've also got 2 or 3 compilations as well.

The 1986 video would be great to have; that was of course the year one of my personal heroes lost his life on the Hunaudiéres - Jo Gartner.

Took it myself during the drivers' parade at Le Mans in '86. Has to be one of my favourite shots - sad, but I think it's quite a good one.

I think I'm right in saying this was Jo's last victory. Interserie at Thruxton - 1986 - just a couple of months before he lost his life at Le Mans.

"Mixed Emotions" was a Duke Video. It's listed in their on-line catalogue, so I guess it's still available. Go to
