Phoenix1 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
2004 testing crashes

It might just be my but it seems in 2004 testing there has been quite a few crashes as with Panis today and also Massa and Glock. Is there actually an increase in crashes and if so do you believe it is simply teams pushing all there testing time/budget to the beginning of the season due to the limited testing time during the season?

I think Glock and Leinders both wrecked the Jordans out of inexperience. Massa's accident was clearly a car failure, of the same type Ferrari had in testing 3 or 4 times last year, so I don't think that one is anything new this year. Haven't heard of what went wrong in Panis's crash, so hard to say anything about that one...

All in all, I don't think we are seeing any significant increase/decrease in testing accidents this year. I do think there are more teams turning up and running more laps this year, though, so maybe we should expect a few more crashes if there is more testing going on.

It's just testing - people crash in testing.

New bits fail.
New drivers get it wrong.
Experienced drivers get it wrong.

The teams are pounding the circuits putting mileage onto the cars this year in an attempt to get their reliability up to scratch - and more miles = more crashes.

There's always lots of crashes in testing - it's just that this time of year they get more attention because there's not much else going on.

I dont think so !!!!!!

every year there is crashes , there isnt an increase or anything like that.

exposure is what has happened , today in 2004 every day of testing is virtually covered live and anything that happens instantly gets reported all over the web , so its simply there is more of it out there these days.

marcus I agree. The fact there appear to be more accidents/incidents is wholly and solly on the fact there is greater media outlets which appear within minutes of the event happening.
