It's cool that the Formula BMW races in Zandvoort the same weekend as the Masters of Formula 3.

Oh yes he is and yes he won the first race. Hansen was on pole and led for a few laps before he made a mistake that Harvey took advantage of. Then he disappeared.

Second race was more of survival than race. The conditions were impossible, there was so much rain. Frijns overtook everybody, Harvey got a drive through for false start and Sainz had the least offs beyond the winner which gave him 2nd place. 3rd with two more offs than Sainz was Ledogar. King of the gravel was Kvyat, I lost count of his offs before he got a black flag (red light not working).

There was also a very scary moment when Lewis was stranded facing in the wrong direction in the exit of a high speed corner and Kvyat arrived two wheels off track and seemingly out of control. Thank God the head on crash was avoided...

Did Kvyat already had a black-flag when this happened?? I saw it on the video-wall and it for sure was a scary moment! a shame voor Lewis, he was on P2 before he spun...

There is no timing but i can tell you the qual provisional results:
frijns, harvey, hansen, tarancon, kvyat, katsinis

and i say provisional because lots of drivers are under investigation for posting their best times under yellow. We shall see tomorrow.

So no FBMW Europe in 2011?

Timmy Hansen & Robin Frijns win at Hockenheim - Jack Harvey continues as points leader....

No F.BMW but who is to say that the series will not continue unbranded or differently branded next year? Apparently the people involved in the series are keen to take a long term view on this and therefore there is an effort to continue with unchanged equipment in 2011 while looking for a BMW replacement. I can imagine Bernie likes the idea of having a full ladder controlled by him supporting F1 but time will tell if FIA is ok with it and if not whether it has the power to block it.

About that, how big is the gap drivingwise between FBMW and GP3? I mean, maybe if it's Bernies wish to have the ladder, it's in their intrest to replace it with something a bit faster?

Mr. E's only wish is to get his supposedly 3 mln EU fee paid by someone!
I guess after GP3's problems, he finds it better just to ask for some fee and let someone else try and make a very tiny profit.

GP3 has many mopre entries than F3 Euroseries, F3 Open, AutoGP, F2 among others.

Renault has been doing a pretty good job by mantaining a whole formula ladder. Their only failure is to revive the sport in France (F3 lost, FR2.0 lost, FR1.6 Europeized).

According to Autosport, BARC's attempt to save FBMW as another series organized by them with the same cars during F1 weekends has failed. Cars will race in a low profile current UK series.
Wondering what's going on with this time spot in the F1 weekends?
