I can think of few instances where a penalty/punishment has been needed, barring the most famous professional fouls committed by TGF and Lord Jesus Christ of Marlboro McLaren. Although, in fairness, those required bans and stripping of titles rather than penalties. I'd punish passing under yellow flags and pitlane speeding and suchlike. Racing incidents should be left well alone.

Let's also create an environment where penalties are not needed. Bye bye to the one move rule, loosen blue flag regs, get rid of engine and gearbox allocations, have one or two hour long qualifying sessions!

Watching the old season reviews is a reminder of how people used to get on. There were plenty of incidents and everyone got mad initially, but eventually just shrugged it off and got on with it. Far better.

The Karthikeyan penalty is as dumb as pretty much any we have had the past few years. OK, it will have no real effect but it is the principle of it.
