72 Grp 2 Capri

Wondering if anyone had any info on what the 72 grp 2 capris were running for brake masters. Were they running a booster and regular master cylinder and if so how were they balancing frt and rears or were they running two cylinders with a bias adjustment.Any Pics? Was wondering about frt ARB size also. Have availability for a 29mm bar over here. Would ask for some input on that. One more thought! Anyone know where I can have some replica BBS RS type wheels made. So many questions! Thanks Gents.

BBS can still make these wheels for you, in either E30 or E50 centres, I think both were used on the 72 car:

pictures from 71 show standard m.cyl., reservoir and servo. 73 shows standard cylinder, no servo, remote reservoir.

Period regs allowed tandem cylinders.

These could be mounted in the engine bay in place of the servo and standard cylinder

But it save bonnet space to modify the pedal box like in an escort to run tandem cylinders under the dash.

Thanks Greg. Glad to hear that. I actually bought a Escort pedal box set up with twin masters,but wanted to make sure I was doing the correct install before modifying it. Pete

To be honest, it is VERY difficult to change cylinders on an Escort during a rally with limited service time. If there was room under the bonnet (there isn't on an Escort) I would run the cylinders on the firewall so you could get at them easily.

Period regs state that standard parts must be retained but can be modified in any way as long as the original part can always be identified. If this was not the case I would weld a plate through the bulkhead for a Titlon or Wilwood pedal box and toss the original. The cylinder assembly that replaces the servo and m.cyl. under the bonnet would be the next best thing and would meet period regs.

Yes I agree and can see how changing out the masters would be a problem. I wondered why the Escort pedal box masters would differ from the Capri and that makes perfect sense.
