First time in many years Paul Stubber is running the Group N Camaro, leaving home the Group C HDT Toranas & ex Moff RX7.
The March 81c Indycar will be there with the GTP Corvette off to Europe.

Well done Paul.

I'm heading out tomorrow morning. I just i hope I can make it. The Newell Hwy is closed, so i will have to drive down the coast road from Qld to Sydney and then take the Hume.

He told me it was the Veskanda going to Europe, Donnington in May and then on to do the rest of the Historic Group C races including Le Mans..

There is also a lot of water around Northern Victoria as well, but I think at the moment the Hume is open all the way through.

inpitlane should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Don Kinsey, The Voice of Historic Racing, was our guest on the first In Pit Lane of the year last night talking about the meeting.
He mainly concentrated on the Ferrari but we did manage to get in some chat about some other stuff as well.
You can listen to the audio of the show on the In Pit Lane podcast here
Interestingly he hinted as he left that there may soon be huge changes to the running of the event as it's become just too big for the volunteers of the VHRR to develop it any further.
This could tie in with a plan by Andrew Fox several years ago to merge the car and bike historic meetings, concentrating on premier and elite categories and famous cars and bikes.

Ferrari fans should head down to PI this weekend.

There are numerous Ferraris running in regularity and Grp Sc etc, but the stand out star of the show is the very very special Tipo 500 F2, chassis no.5

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_Tipo_500

This is THE car that Alberto Ascari won Ferraris FIRST world Championship with, in 1952.

It's here as part of the 60 year celebrations of the event.

It has been beautifully restored and is in race ready condition. Take your parents/kids/grands, this might be the only time they get to see one of Ferrari Holy Grail cars.

It'll also be at the AGP, but then it flies off into the sunset.

Now I'm really upset about the date clash with Winton. Ah well, there is nothing that can be done, except hope that next year everyone talks to each other about scheduling.

A man can dream....

A crash in the Formula Ford & several red flags for roll overs in other catagories.

Been a busy day so far for the rescue & medical teams.

Too true.

Many damaged cars, and too many damaged drivers over the week-end.

So, having gone only yesterday, I'll express some thoughts...

- Early 80s Indycars? First time I'd seen any live, those cars have "presence". Even the John Pooley Lola, which was in the last 1/3 of the field, was more intimidating in appearance than the Ferrari, or any F1 car for that matter. When I had a close up peek of them in the garages, you can see and feel what a fricken beast it is! Like being up close to a sleeping adult male lion in the jungles of Africa. I've seen lots footage of them but, I can't even imagine what 33 of those things running around Indy would be like.

- A Ford Sierra, no.83, with "Damon Hill" written on the window? Obviously my fellow f1champ wasn't driving, but I was not aware that he competed in Group A at any stage. If someone can explain the history, please do.

- From a distance, the ex-Bob Jones VL Commodore is an awesome looking car.

- If you see them often enough, can you ever get used to F5000s?

- I could've easily spent $500+ on books, pictures and other things. I didn't, but it was hard resisting, didn't know where to start.

I was at Sandown last year, a big first corner crash, loss of laps due to a delayed start and other incident meant there was only one legitimate racing lap. Was it like that?

That Sierra was run by Graham Goode Racing for Sean Walker in the 1989 BTCC. Damon Hill had a one off guest drive in the Silverstone TT.

I think it was a one-off drive.

That was Saturday morning - he got it but just hard enough to bend a few things, but was back out running in the afternoon race.

Hope there is no serious injuries. What happened?

Unfortunate when it happens to club level racers.
