circuito de navarra??

Now, I have tended to lurk around these parts and have not posted any of my own circuits for criticisim/comment, but take a look at the circuit layout of this new track.

I cant put my finger on it straight away, but I am certain that this layout (or something incredibly familiar) has appeared on this forum in the past. You don;t think the circuit is getting our design skills on the cheap do you?

Ooh ho, now that would be interesting! Of course I can't speak for much longer than the past few months of this forum, but I could see that design as part of a forum post here.

Tell ye what, make this a challenge. Who can find the track m1fcf is referring to first? Then post the link.

Bingo! That looks so much the same it is uncanny... so I guess the next game is to predict what the shape of the next track by this construction company is going to look like.

Might they have changed the design in the *.pdf file? Does anybody have a screenshot? It would not surprise me at all if a track construction company went data mining on the internet and found this forum as a suitable source to copy from and not credit.

Looks pretty much the same as the PDF file to me...

and to satisfy other comments here, it is not exactly the same, but you have to admit there are a great number of commonalities on display here.

Circuit designer: Michel Ligonnet, same guy that recently established the new Ascari circuit near Malaga.

I don't see nothing wrong. The circuit elements that has been used in the Navarra circuit are pretty much the most common ones in spaniard circuits, which are my favorites as everyone knows here, the type of scientific, geometric circuits built for efficient use of space and variety of challenges vs. "organic" or natural circuits,like many "emblematic" old circuits, those that were not even "designed" but were basically built throwing a turn here and a turn there and whatever came up was good.

Maybe they did maybe they didn't but in any case it's rather flattering to see that actual, new circuits are being built around the same principles we like, and that says a lot(good) of our designing criteria.

This makes me wonder: are there identifiable national characteristics to circuits in other countries?

(obviously the US has alot of Ovals and Rovals, but that's too easy!)

The UK has two kinds of circuit's: flat or nearly flat tracks at former military airfields and purpose built tracks with a lot of elevation, and there's Rockingham. I think it'd be interesting to turn this into a thread.

I'd say american circuits are composed of rather random sections. except for Miller,and maybe Barber, the rest are organic circuits a la Road America or Mid Ohio.

Even Indy makes no sense at all, it's like "Okat lay the section there where it fits and then connect with that one there where the museum ends and make some kind of turn here around the parking lot...try not to hit the lake"

What I call those?

New development, World Cup construction in Durban has meant the postponement of the FIA GT1 race until 2011, so that a new layout for the street circuit can be sorted out.

As a result, Navarra is to host Round 8 of this year's championship as a stand-in.

I would make the run to turn 9 longer so that turn 10 is taken faster.
