If I understood correctly from what was said on BBC Look East last night, traffic lights on the Barton Lights Roundabout are in effect only a temporary solution until such time as a by-pass is built - that puzzled me as it sounds like a by-pass to by-pass a by-pass!! Or am I missing something here? I would imagine Mike is more up to date with local planning than me...

You should have seen and heard the reaction of the locals on TV news last night! They've already had to alter the A11 entries as they were too narrow for 3 lanes. Even now if trucks want to keep in the left lane they have to drive over the kerb.

I always thought roundabouts were a way of getting round (whoops, no pun intended) having to use traffic lights? Crazy idea, but wait for it- the £400K cost is only temporary, until they get funding to build a bypass round the whole area! Give me strength.......

No worry it does work Robert (I thing David is involved in software business!).
One question: did you ever consider doing that for a living? Hope you've special agreement to find a good and free access to the track. In France, the competition between so called pros and very good amateurs is sometime not very fair…
Ooooh no more moustache for your famous Isle of Man cop and trousers for Sir Stewart !!!

Feel free to download anything you want, and thank you for your nice comments.

Cheers,

James Toseland, Rocket Ron Haslam, JT, Valentino Rossi, Cal Crutchlow, Jonathan Rea plus Bradley Smith centre of back row. I'm afraid I don't recognize the others immediately. Such an eclectic mix of top riders.

Apropos of nothing in particular ...

My car's alloys were looking poorly. Not much damage at all but for some reason they are prone to the finish flaking off.

I had them refurbished previously - turns out it was 7 years ago! Astonished at that.

At Mallory last time out with Iain I noticed some banners for East Midlands Alloys - based at the circuit. So I found them on the way out.

An excellent job completed today with more attention to getting a good finish than the state of the wheels deserved, given how the previous finish was flaking off.

Potentially one could turn up for a test day, drop the car (or wheels) off and collect them before heading home. (On the assumption of staying for the day.)

Barry, the business owner, is a bike racer by trade. I like the idea of supporting motor sport no matter how many wheels they prefer!

Highly recommended to any locals reading this.

I found a specialist in Norwich several years ago, and when I looked at the multiple processes they put a wheel through, i realised they knew what they were doing! As you say, very impressive when done properly.

PS- Hope you get a discount on your next set

Thanks to Mon Ami Mate Gerard I might just have worked out what is going on.

Not being very clever, I often wondered why all of my pictures appeared twice, in my Picasa account and as Google Photo, I am now guessing that 'Picasa' is personal to me, and 'Google Photo' can be seen by, or at least shared with the Hoi Polloi, hence the two different links.

No doubt some Clever Clogs called Gordon, Tim, Peter, or such will put me right!

Well the usually do.

Hmm. Will I ever have a next set?

One interesting aspect of this set up is that he is planning in building a small collection of "loan" wheel sets for some of the more popular wheel and fittings sizes. I thought that was a nice innovation.

The currently small collection has now been extended to cover many Saab and a number of Vauxhall models ....

Quite right Gerard, my Vauxhall does have wooden wheels, cunningly disguised as alloy. They are not shiny, in fact they are very dirty and in need of restoration, however, I believe cars are for driving not polishing, so they will remain a tribute to the many miles my trusty Astra has travelled.

Bon nuit.

Bob.

This is indeed true Bob, but last time I had mine fettled it was mainly because 3 of them seemed to have become porous and I was losing tyre pressure regularly.

The fettling fixed that but recently large flakes of surface coating have been dropping off and so, knowing that the wheel material surface was not in great shape seven years ago, I thought it was time to take steps for one last treatment that will probably outlive both me and the car.
