And remember that this is a planning application. It may be granted, it may not be, it may be granted in part or it may be amended. Still, never let the facts get in the way of a good story, eh?

Part of their current license is that every car that goes on the track is noise tested.
It puts a lot of pressure on the scrutineers if you only have 5 or 10 minutes to noise test a big field.
It will also hopefully put an end to cars being pushed to scrutineering, how can you test the electric cut off properly if the engine is not running.
If the early starts are just for the purpose of getting the cars scrutineered, there shouldn't be an issue.
It's only the poor pits specialist who would have to start early. :-(

I still don't understand the noise restrictions at Donington, with East Midlands airport being next door and having heavy jets taking off from early in the morning. Sometimes you can't hear the cars over the jet!

Quite often locals ringing up to complain about noise had to interrupt their telephone calls because of planes.
