Yes it would be nice to see more on what you have highlighted but there's only so much you can cram into half an hour

Enjoyed the focus on his Le Mans adventures, would've made a good story about how they ran in a new engine on that Bob Jane Porsche. I bet the occupants of a certain French village won't forget that in a hurry

DJ and John Bowe next episode

Yep.

Too much time spent on '93 and '95 Bathursts.

No guests either. Mr Ingall and Mr Mezera (for example) could've stopped by for a chat and some banter.

Once it's uploaded to the Shannons site, the run time will be about 40mins.

No mention on his early involvement in what became HRT either.

They seemed to go back and focus on specific stuff a fair bit, particularly with 1986 and 1993

What an amazing story on Larry, I had forgotten about the Porsche at Le Mans.
Not to many of today's drivers could design it, fabricate and then drive it.
Loved the scenes at Bathurst driving with no gloves!

Pity they missed some of his more quirky exploites too. The solar car, the 84/85 Safari where he was keeping up the the works Pajero's in a VW he got out of the shed. A lot of his run ins with CAMS

I've been pretty happy with the two episodes so far. The number of things they tap into is always going to be governed by having only an hour (minus the ads). I can understand them wanting to concentrate on victories in our most prominent race.

Johnson and Bowe sharing an episode? Couldn't find enough content on each to get their own?

Also, how do you get the term legend? In another post I saw KB and Bondy mentioned as legends, but also Murray Carter. I guess I've never thought of Murray Carter as a legend

I chatted with Neil Crompton and Aaron Noonan after the first day of filming and Neil said that one of the most limiting factors was availability of footage. Simply, they can't cover an event or a person if there is bugger all footage. That's why Bob Holden isn't included, he dominated the under 2-litre class for years, but sadly, the TV cameras all but ignored the little cars.

Shame.

You could write a decent-sized novel on Bob.

You could devote a whole episode to his run ins with CAMS. Would be mighty entertaining too.

Watched the DJ/JB ep today.

Near the end, JB alluded to the "smooth talking businessman" who convinced him to leave DJR, a move he seems to have regretted ever since.

Can anyone enlighten me on that bit of history?

It was that WA team in CAT colours that morphed into John Briggs Motorsport, and then some guy named Roland Dane bought it.

PAE Motorsport owned by Steve Renshaw. Sold the idea to JB with visions of being bigger the Gibson Motorsport, but in reality only had enough money to sticker the car up.

Motorsport Legends

I missed yesterday's ep with DJ and JB so I'm glad they're repeating this episode during the week on 7mate.

Next ep is Nissan Motorsport with Fred Gibson and Skaife. Looking forward to it
