Corser Follows Slight To 4 Wheels

2001 Lamborghini GTR Supertrophy
Round 7 - Valencia (E) - October 27/28

World Superbike Star, Troy Corser Swaps
2 Wheels for 4

Australian World Superbike star, Troy Corser is set to return to the Spanish circuit of Valencia
this weekend (October 27/28), the scene of the stunning Superpole and double race wins which kicked
off his 2001 World Superbike Championship campaign earlier this year in March. This time however,
the 1996 World Superbike Champion will be trading his Aprilia Racing RSV1000 for the awesome power
of the V12 engined, Lamborghini GTR VIP car at the final round of the prestigious Lamborghini GTR
Supertrophy.

Although lining up against former Formula One drivers and Le Mans winners, Corser is no stranger to
the magnificent Lamborghini Diablo and, as a proud Lamborghini owner himself, is expected to give
the regular competitors a good run for their money. The Lamborghini GTR Supertrophy however, is a
series for both professional and gentlemen drivers with a compulsory driver change halfway through
races. Corser will be sharing his limited edition, 590bhp Diablo GTR guest car with a journalist so
teamwork will be the key to success.

Corser follows in the footsteps of several other renowned sportsmen with former Motor Cycle World
Champion, Wayne Gardner, former F1 driver, René Arnoux and 1997 World Downhill Skiing Champion, Luc
Alphand all competing in the Lamborghini VIP car this year.

Troy Corser's weekend will start with two 60-minute practice sessions on Friday 26 October.
Qualifying takes place on Saturday morning and is followed by the first of two, 50-minute races at
4:20pm that same day. The second race of the weekend, and final of this year's seven round
Lamborghini GTR Supertrophy, gets under way at 10:50am on Sunday.

ENDS.

Thanks Craig,

As a Corser fan I hope he stays with two wheels though. Does anyone know his plans for next year after Aprilia gave him the cold shoulder?

3rd & 4th in only 3 years of superbike racing and they dump corser..... aprilia are bunch of ****ers - what other rider will give them a top 5 finish - regis laconi (sorry regis, nothing against you...)

surely corser will get a ride somewhere else, at this stage i havent heard of anything - although i hear that karl muggeridge has been testing the aprilia

f2001 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
look at Corsers amasing wsb career profile:

1995: 2nd World Superbike
1996: 1st World Superbike
1998: 3rd World Superbike
1999: 3rd World Superbike
2000: 3rd World Superbike
2001: 4th World Superbike

And in all of his Superbike seasons he has won making a total of 23 WSBK wins, he is one of the World Superbike greats, he should run his own Ductai's as Foggy did in 1992 !

Thanks for the records there f2001, when you look at his tally, hardly a bad record is it? Maybe its just a reflection on the amount of talent out there versus what a team is prepared to pay, ie a middle of the field team mightn't have the money for Corser whereas with the savings made hiring that new young dude from " x " ,they could have enough left over to pay another mechanic.

just pondering...........
