12 hours of FTA coverage on #10 hopefully gives the punters a glimpse into the product Foxtel offers. Every race weekend. Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

I don't think that is the issue GTR.

Might be the $700 a year that might be the problem.

And why would you be watching ten if you have Foxtel?

I might be slipping or they're getting better, but I taped the 6-hour C10 broadcast and it took me 4.5 hours to watch it! I used to whiz through it much faster than that.

And was it during Reynolds Top Ten lap that Crompton said his second sector appeared to be slow only for a green box to appear only seconds later?

Priceless.

A take on modern viewing habits.

On Saturday I started watching from the start of the TEN telecast at about 2:30pm.

Watched all of the races and qualifying, skipped through everything else and handed back the TV to the kids at 6:30pm.

On Sunday started watching the start of the TEN telecast from 1pm. Watched up to the Giz in the Top Ten shootouts, took a break for a few hours then watched the rest finishing up about 8:30pm.

Other than Bathurst it would be about 3 years since I've watched a round in "real time".

But this is no different to other FTA shows - although I do watch cricket live. Usually only one advertisement at a time, but of course more frequent. Maybe that is something the FTA networks can consider.

Overall enjoyed the coverage. Bring on Sandown.

Not just the ads, I skipped the utes and any time Matt White appears on his own. There seemed to be a distinct lack of 'fill' compared to what I'm used to.

I have to say I didn't mind TEN's coverage at all. The coverage was 'near live' and they even showed Formula 4 which is a big bonus. That was exciting to watch. Support, quali and top 10 shootout was almost live. TEN didn't even have 3 sets of ads during the 20min qualifying session which happened on Seven. Family Feud was always scheduled at 6pm and Foxtel's coverage was always going to finish at 6.05pm. Matt White was also good but poor old Rick Kelly about his voice. The races surprisingly didn't have many ads. They only had like 2 ads with around 30 laps left.

I still think that TEN figure is still quite good. Bear in mind FOX Sports audience is metro + regional where as TEN is metro and that is not a peak figure or even on a multi-channel that is constantly gets bumped by AFL

On the evidence of these figures it seems that the concern about people losing interest in V8's because of the lack of full telecasts on FTA for most rounds was unfounded. The total viewing audience for Townsville was up slightly on last year.

Not with the crappy 3rd rate coalition NBN it isn't.ISP's and streaming services are already reporting large amounts of drop outs because the telecommunications technology being put in place in this country can't handle the data demands of the amount of streaming happening now. This is only going to get worse.

Watched Inside Supercars last night (hotel had fox). Is James Phelps like that every episode? Good to see Skaife setting him straight and reminding him about who indeed said Godzilla was back in the first place.

So you'd think V8 Supercars would be pretty happy with the Townsville numbers; it would seem that their fans are loyal to the category, but perhaps only when its on FTA which would be a little concerning to Fox, surely?

Outside looking in it would appear that most people will be content with their 6 race package on FTA...

Or is it that after the weekend the FTA fans will remember how much they miss the V8s and make the switch...?
