Agreed, pity he is a journalist and not actually running the show really!

Brilliant read.

Whilst I love F1, you do not need to dig very deep to realise that it really is a huge mess.

Great article. I found Ken Tyrrell's prediction particularly interesting.

I don`t always agree with what journalists say about F1, but in this instance the nail has been very firmly wacked on the bonce. A very good article indeed.

FWIW I think there are just too many regulations. Build a car and race it. Make sure it will not explode and kill people. Engine size? whatever. V8? V6? V12? V10? V2? V1..( perhaps not..) Up to you. make a minimum weight and a maximum weight rule. Then all you need is about four miles of tarmac.....

Oh well, back to reality I suppose.. F1 doing what F1 does best, bicker, argue and eat itself!

Why has he waited till now to write this article? Could it be that he would have lost his accreditation if he had dared write it at the time?

The whole of motorsport is a mess because of the selling of the commercial rights for a pittance. The deal Max did with Bernie was corrupt and should be investigated by those in power at the moment. Could you imagine how well off the sport would be if the money raised from the top level was used to better the facilities and costs of all involved in it?

He has written similar articles previously. This article is like a collection of his past writings, added to recent events, all piled into one scathing attack.

Do you really mean "attack?"

I take it as just observation of part of what is screwed-up and, how it came to be that way, and why things are likely to stay this way, at least for a while.

Perhaps not the right word, but he is certainly taking a swing at how the sport is run. Good on him.

As always Nigel Roebuck has written an inspiring article, I tried to read all the comments but simply ran out of patience, did he ever write one that got so many comments? Many of them actually reflect views expressed on here

Perhaps we need to just sit back and see what happens next, some sort of Phoenix will arise as all those circuits will have to have racing on them

Has he managed to squeeze Amon, Villeneuve, Prost or Montoya into any of it?

Nigel Roebuck is the most wise and perceptive journalist in motor sport, bar none. I've enjoyed reading his articles for many, many years. It is such a shame that he is only a journalist and not running the FIA.
