Michael H should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Are we going to get ETCC and BTCC coverage in Australia in 2003?

Does anyone know if any channels are going to broadcast highlights of either series?

Australia uses Pal TV format right? If it uses NTSC, I wouldn't mind trading some race videos.

We use PAL, but a lot of videos are interchangable

We'll probably get the BTCC on Fox Sports towards the end of the year as hoonboyz said. Well some of it, i'm still waiting to see the last two rounds of last years series.

Motorworld may show some ETCC and FIA GT as they have in the past, but they are just 20 seconds or so of each race.

It's not good enough - the BTCC and ETCC are booming, and we miss out again. It's especially not fair when overseas viewers can see the V8Supercars, even when they have absolutely no relevance to markets outside of Australia, NZ, and little bits of South Africa and the Middle East.

We really need 10 x 1 hour shows of the ETCC , and 1 hour shows of the BTCC. Alternatively, we could just have a programme that showed the best of the two races from each round of each series.

I wish Fox would create a channel just for motorsport. We could have 24hr around the world car racing of all different series and I'm sure it would take a channnel to do it. The thought of BTCC ETC JTC NASCARS and I could go on but if it's not a sport with a ball it gets little or no air time......

Yeah, that would be quite a dream! Imagine being able to watch V8 Stars, TC2000, NZTC, etc...

If we had a 24hr motorsport channel VCR's around OZ would be working overtime or there would be a huge increase in the unemployed.
Foxtel do your magic.......

Jesus...what a brilliant idea! All Fox need to do is get the F1 coverage and bob's your uncle...

Has anyone actually written to Fox enquiring about the possibility/chances of having a 24hr Motorsport channel in Australia??

There already is a dedicated motor racing channel - two in fact - Speed Vision in the US and one in Europe (can't recall the name - Euro-something or other)

That is what should be picked up but don;t hold your breath - we only ESPN 1 here while ESPN2 carries more motorsport again...

What rules or formula does the BTCC and ETCC run under? Is it Super Touring, or something different? Would any of our domestic vehicles (Australia) qualify?

BTCC - runs to BTC-Touring Regulations for class A. Similiar in appearance in a way to a Super Tourer (except for the mile high rear wing, which looks like a piece of plywood ). 27 control components in the cars, like gearbox etc... and is a non-developmental formula. Class B is called BTC-Production, effectively Super Production.

ETCC - Runs to Super 2000 regulations. Similiar in appearance to Super Tourers, ongoing development and everything, just abit more production based.

Both the series rules decreed cars to be of a 2000cc capacity.

Eurosport I think? Yeah, Speedvision was bought out by Nascar controlled interests last year and was renamed Speed TV.

Yeah, we do get DTM/ETCC/BTCC/V8 Supercar/JGTC coverage, but it's broadcast in Nov. These series are used as fillers during the Nascar offseason!!! The season is over for all these series. The unfair thing is that motorcycle racing and WRC get weekly coverage. As you can already guess, Nascar gets the most coverage, increased over the Speedvision coverage.

haha! Eurosport 'dedicated to motorsport' Yeah, right!!

There is a French channel, Motors TV, which has live coverage of BTCC and DTM as well as a hell of a lot more recorded. Sadly my cable company don't carry it... grrrr

The idea of a 24 hour motorsport program is sensational. Yet, i don't think my boss would like my frequent sick days.
All it would require is someone with considerable influence, a large bank account and the skill and persistance to convience a network. Yes, 24 hour racing on tv wouldn't be all that difficult, just a miracle ...
