1970 Plymouth Superbird
First off apologies for posting something I've been involved in the making of.
With the Plymouth Superpird coming across for the Festival of Speed with Richard Petty they were kind enough to let my colleague go over to film with The King in his museum. They had said yes when I asked if we could video the car starting up for the first time in 40 years, but I didn't expect Andy to return having been driven around the local streets in it. If you skip on to the six or so minute mark you can see it being driven, and they told us it hadn't been out for a drive since 1970 so we were pretty pleased with the film we made at short notice. Hope you like, obviously any comments welcome. https://grrc.goodwood.com/festival-o...ime-since-1970 |

Very cool....great video!
Even though I don't really follow NASCAR, I really like the "basic-ness" of the cars, even today. They still run steel wheels, live axles, pushrod engines, etc. And the NASCAR events that are held at road courses (such as Watkins Glen) really prove that these cars can do more than just turn left. I was lucky enough to meet "The King" about 20 years ago.....he's a truly a nice fellow. |
