Alan Crook should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
BMMC Clubnight February

The South Mids region of BMMC are holding another clubnight on the 5th of February the guest speaker is Tony Southgate as normal this will be in the White Horse public house in Silverstone Village at 8.00pm.

Tony is best known as a designer designing the first arrows F1 car, the first Shadows F1 car working for Lotus he was also the designer of the Jaguar XJRs that won at Le Mans in the 80s.

Cars designed by Tony have won at Monaco, Indy and Le Mans. Tony has also raced himself.

Also a reminder to people that Januarys clubnight is on 15th January where Oliver Gavin is guest speaker.

Do not forget that you can have 2 steak meals for £10 before the meetings start.

As usual the meeting will start at 8.00pm, with a talk bt Tony he will then answer questions from the audience.

We also have Oliver and Graham Bryant as guests for March 4th confirmed, so make a note in you diary's.

Lets hope we get the same sort of numbers of people turn up as we had for Oliver Gavin (about 30). All of our guest speakers give there time free for these clubnights as they are for marshals many of them actually make money doing the same thing as after dinner speakers.

Tony tells me he plans to be at "White Horse" by 7.45pm.

Seriously though, it was a great evening. I lost count of how many famous projects Tony had worked on well before the end of the long but very enjoyable evening (feel free to add any major ones I've missed).

Lola (inc Ford GT40 and Honda F1).

Brabham (various categories).

Eagle (including an Indy 500 win).

BRM, Shadows, Lotus & Arrows Forumla One.

Ford RS200 rally car.

Jaguar, Toyota, Ferrari, Nissan & Audi endurance racers.

Yet he's still such a down to earth guy, now enjoying club racing in his retirement. There's no special people or equipment in the Tony's Tigers team pit at the Birkett Relay, despite the pedigree of their captain.
