Hotels at BTCC race venues?
It was probably more of a problem several years ago, but what is the availability of (preferably cheap!!) hotel rooms like at the cities(towns better word??) when the BTCC comes to town? Do prices get jacked up like when F1 and CART comes to town??

At most circuits you can get all types of accomodation within an easy drive, obviously it is easier at circuits like Brands Hatch, Silverstone and Donington Park as there are largish towns nearby.
For the btcc meeting at Oulton Park last weekend a large percentage of the teams and media finished up in Runcorn, an experience in itself! Please send me a pm if you want guidence on a specific circuit. |

travelodges get the prices hiked up when there's a race in town, but there's always a good field to stay in somewhere...

Surprised at that Bella - I have never seen any changes in prices at the Travelodges, TravelInns or whatever when the racing is on or off.

I've not noticed price changes either, at least certainly not an increase. In fact, quite often it's possible to find a travelodge with a special offer on.

It must be easier for single rooms like what most people book but for booking 5 or six rooms at a budget price (under £60) for the team (one that hates travelodges) its a nightmare. Ive been booking since february and still dont have all the race and test days finished.
BTW bella travelodges have the fixed prices all though they are a bit cheaper on friday and saturday |

what I would be interested in knowing is whether you can get a discount for multiple rooms and how many would you need to book?

It is possible, but you need to book earlier in the year. The possible discount will vary from hotel to hotel.

Don't try asking Travelodge (or Travel Inn for that matter) for bulk discounts. I recently had to try to place 70 people in motel accommodation for 25 consecutive nights, and those two chains couldn't see any justification for dropping their prices by so much as a penny.
Forty quid per room per night isn't bad, when all's said and done, but even so.... |
