Yes, considering he was using a four horsepower chariot without the spikes in the wheel hubs; it's the spikes that make the difference. .

The chariot maker was working on a new spike/hub aero package for each race. Constantly fiddling with the variables for that unfair advantage.

Yes the spikes would mean pitstops every lap for new wheels, How do you make your tyre allocation last?

To compare drivers from different eras objectively, I can use only two statistics: wins / podiums, and best season standings.

Not just limited to statistics though. In the season's that we've seen and from older footage that we perhaps were not fortunate enough to see at the time, we can also compare how drivers went against teammates or rivals of a given time and work things out from that as well.

For example Gilles in cars that were slower than many of his rivals, was often able to compete well against them yet only won 6 GP's!

Ayrton didn't have the best car for several years yet often beat rivals in better cars, let alone his teammates who stood no chance except Prost.

Then we have Schumacher who never had a competitive teammate and only ocassionally had inferior cars, namely the early Benetton's, and the early Ferrari's

I said that I use statistics to compare objectively. Driving style, setup skills and strategies must be compared subjectively.

That could cause problems at the post-race weigh-in ; best do it "Tyrrell-style" and have water ballast in the horses' bladders.
