RotorFan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
New Commentator for V8s?

Just watching qualifying, it seems Matthew White is AWOL and they have replaced him with a British commentator! I like him!

Is this just because Matthew White has to do Today Tonight? I hope it is a permanent replacement because I'm really enjoying it. It gives a Eurosport or MotorsTV feel to the coverage!

He does talk very fast though, that may bother some. Is he one of the commentators that did the race call at Bathurst this year?

It was amusing listening to how sloooooooow Crompton talks in comparison, it made him sound like a straw chewing country boy.

I enjoyed his commentary, he works well with Crompton, although everytime I hear a British accent behind the mike, I think of James Allen (shudders at thought of James at Bathurst) and if you think Matty White gets hysterical............

I reckon David Addison did a good job last night, he'd be a good replacement for White, it'd be nice if they kept him on for the rest of the year.

I know what you're saying re the British thing but no please don't compare him to JA. James Allen is a ****, David Addison is at least pleasant to listen to.

I like him, keep him on.

After listening to David Addison for a long time in the UK.. My intial reponse to my friends in Oz is that you can keep him!

But watching and listening to the coverage from Bahrain.... It just wasn't Aussie V8 racing! Not as I am used to seeing!

As for James Allen! I wouldn't wish him on my worst enemy... Well, I might consider it!

Of course David's no stranger to Aussie TV screens, having commentated for Seven on both Bathurst 24 hour races.

I really enjoyed David commentry last night and will look forward to see how he goes tonight, a welcome change. He was good listening to when I watch the DTM.

Image the Ch7 Commentry team for 09, Addison, Crompton, Skaife with Larkham and BJ in the pits.

I thought he was fairly average. On many occasions he was just repeating what Crompton had already said. Not bad for a change could still do a lot better.

i couldn't stand him, wanted to reach into the tv and smack him one. seemed to make a lot of mistakes with the drivers, tried to talk as though he had an intimate relationship with the cars (this should be left to cromley only) and was just a general pain to my ears, personally hope i don't hear his voice again.

Addison did an awesome job calling the race, was head and shoulders above White but also Crompton.

I think Mr Addison talks over Mr Crompton too much.. and only an improved dynamic of working together a few more times will fix that balance.

A much better alternative than Mr White.

Where will Mr Skaife fit into the commentary box next season?

I liked his line in race 3, "If you look closely at Will Davison's car you might find a panel that isn't damaged". It made a nice change from Cromley's tech-speak.

I thought Addison had a very fluid delivery, and a refreshing absence of the "Hyuk..Hyuk...Chortle !" factor which seems to pervade all Aussie sports commentary.

Keep him on.
