Mike Weeks / Teretonga Race Meeting

It is reported there was a lot of carnage at the weekend, especially in the Porsche Carrera Cup class

I am told Johnathon Webb is sore but OK & that the car is an absolute mess but does anyone know how Mike Weeks is as the only news I can find sounds very serious ?

To Mikes family & race team, my thoughts are with him and I am sending best wishes for a quick & speedy recovery.

Speedy

Hi speedyG. Spect you may have heard by now but if not, Mikes condition is said to be stable, and Ã*mproving'. Certainly was the wrong place to have an off, with no safety features installed at that particular place. Spose it's only by these frightening incidents that improvements are made to track safety.

Fingers crossed for Mike and his family and thanks for YOUR concern Speedy.

Hi again SG. Nothing much available regards Mike but I will be visiting his Company on Monday on business and will find out all I can from them. I will let you know , on here, what I can.
Dont you just hate it when the shades come down on something like this. Just a word to set our minds at rest is all we want but I guess nobodies an expert at what to do in these circumstances. Fingers crossed for a real gentle Gentleman that THRIVES on his Racecar participation. THANKS SG

Re Mike Weeks. Nothing much has changed as yet and Mike has been in an induced coma since the accident, a sort of 'safe mode' on the old computer. Done to give the old body a good chance to heal itself without stress.
Family optimistic and just playing that waiting game now. Fingers crossed eh?? Nice lad. Will advise inprovements as I get them. Mike is still in Dunedin hospital, a long way from home.
Cheers

Mike continues to make noticeable progress each day. Although still unconscious (which is the best healer), he is aware of his surroundings and becoming more fidgety and moving around each day.

Yes, THANKS Murphette. You sound a lot closer than me so hopefully you can keep us all updated. A terrible situation for family and friends and we are all thinking about Mike every day.

WELCOME to 10/10ths too Murphette, and thanks again for the info. Hard to type with all fingers crossed but we all seem to be managing.

Well I have some better news to report this time around.

Mike opened his eyes for 3-4 minutes on Saturday and has done so a couple of times since. The Doctors are pleased with his progress and he seems to be enjoying physio and is becoming more active.

So fingers crossed, just like you Baz.

The latest news on Mike is that he was transferred back to Auckland after a special medical flight yesterday and he remains in a comfortable and stable condition.

People are still not able to visit him as the ward is not opened to visitors other than family that have swipe card access.

Mike’s family would also like to thank you all for your kind messages and support. (I printed off the forum and gave it to them).

Great news Murphette. (hope he doesnt want to make any NOISE though, after all, this IS Auckland.!!) I guess that also means we wont be able to shout out the good news from any rooftops up here lest we get fitted with noise measuring equipment.

My seeming flipancy is just because I am well chuffed that Mike is improving. Got that glow on that always accompanies good tidings.

Thanks again for taking the time to post Murphette. We on the forum really appreciate it and we are well pleased at the progress. luvlyjubly.

Hi All

Have another update on how Mike Weeks is doing.

He's no longer classified as unconscious. He's waking up regularly now and communicating with family, doctors & nurses.

In the last 72 hours he's had most of his tubes removed, is shaving and eating and can talk a little. All these achievements combined with the physio tire him so he is also sleeping a lot.

Mike is still in the high dependency unit and visiting is still limited to family only.

Mike's in Auckland Hospital

As mentioned above he's in a special swipe card ward and the only visitors permitted are family at this stage.

Because of the ward he is in they unfortunately will not accept flowers, gifts, cards etc..

Hey Murphette, thanx for the updates & gr8 news. Am so pleased to hear of Mike's progress and can only hope it continues at increasing pace. Are they still confident of a full recovery ?
Also, could u let us know when we can start sending messages direct. I know how much it helps knowing how many people out there in the 'real' world care when u are sitting in a hospital bed.
In the meantime, keep up the gr8 work

Speedygirl, You're a STAR. and I Ditto all that you said there. Nice one.

Hey Murfette, got a spare seat in the back of the Citroen next week-end for Manfeild if Mike feels the need to escape the Ward... ya just gotta jamb a few pillows under the blankets and maybe stick some racing boots out of the bottom, You know the story. lol.
Go well Mike

Hi guys, just heard some news about Mike's progress. Aparently he is still sleeping a lot but waking more frequently now although I understand the physio is knocking him around quite a lot.
Anyone know any more.....

Hi Speedy on the Gold Coast (beam me up), Murphette is doing a splendid job with the updates and is well informed on a regular basis so just keep checkin' in here. Looking good as far as I can tell though although I couldnt bust him out of Hozzie for that Manfeild trip.
Stay tuned Speed and good on ya.
