2 Ponds Park

Named for the 2 Ponds located within the current circuit, 2 Ponds is a multi-layout design operating from a single pit complex.

The name is rather ironic as neither of the ponds are within the original circuit, rather they have over time had circuit extensions built around them.

The Circuit offers 5 possible Layouts. All the layouts have the option of using the chicane, giving in effect 10 possible layouts.

Route 1: 3.273 km / 2.046 miles (3.302 km / 2.064 miles With Chicane)
This is the original and shortest Loop.

Route 2: 4.895 km / 3.060 miles (4.924 km / 3.078 miles)
This is the first extension added to the circuit, this traveling around the Southern Pond.

Route 3: 5.225 km / 3.266 miles (5.253 km / 3.284 miles)
A new extension was added to the circuit as it was felt by some racing clubs that the sequence of fast left handers around the pond didn't offer enough variety, and so the short extension was added creating a slower, more technical section.

Route 4: 5.261 km / 3.289 miles (5.290 km / 3.307 miles)
As often happens when a new extension is added, it didn't suit everyone, so in an effort to add another overtaking place, a new extension around the North Pond was added. This also gave the circuit a new Back straight 480 metres in length.

Route 5: 5.590 km / 3.494 miles (5.619 km / 3.512 miles)
This is in effect a perimeter circuit.

So that is the fictional back story to the way the circuit evolved over time. In reality it has evolved over a period of several weeks as my limited free time allowed.
The images that follow should be if I've done it correctly, the Top view followed by each of the routes as described in order.

If you'll excuse the double post, You'll have noticed that for this circuit I've added some features, which to tell the truth is why it's taken so long. So here are a few more images from around the circuit.

There would be more spectator bridges allowing easier access to raised spectator banking in some of the infield sections as well as banking for general admission spectators around the outside of the circuit.

As usual Comments, criticism and possible edits are welcome

I always like the way you envision things in your multi-layout circuits, my question would be why not make it in a way that you can run two circuits independently and simultaneously? Is it possible?

Why yes, it is possible, this was out of choice by SBF. I believe one of his previous track was just so.

Great track sbf. Looks realy flowing and has a nice mix of fast anf slow corners.

In reply to Luigi: if I were to make two simultaniously usable shorter tracks from this track i`d go left at turn two to the back section for the west track and use the section from turn three to the back section in reverse for the east track. A second pitlane would need to be build but doesn`t need to be all that big.

Very awesome, as always!

Sometimes, the designer of a track has a certain idea in mind from the outset. So, while it would be possible to make 2 tracks run independently from each other here, it would also increase the cost to make a separate pit building and possibly separate paddock area, etc. Of course I may just be putting the wrong words in your mouth SBF

Not only do I think the layout is excellent, plenty of good racing could happen on any of those layouts, but the presentation is just brilliant, it must take ages to do that, I'm slightly envious of your talents

Thanks guys for the comments.

Atomik99 is pretty much correct, the reason for the single pitlane thing is that my designs are essentially influenced by what I see of real circuits. Being European, most of the circuits in this part of the world that are multi-layout are based off a single pitlane and paddock. As such that is the way most of my designs formulate themselves.
I must admit I live in a fantasy world so costs never really come into it...just look at how many grandstands I've built around a 3.5 mile circuit on this design

As has been said, I have done twin circuits in the past (Trent Park Raceway, Oscar Park & 16 layout) but they are something that I really have to adjust my mindset to.

I have several designs that could be adapted, but when I try adding connecting loops, I feel it detracts from the original concept.

A couple of quick changes of direction, tricky but possibly rewarding if negotiated correctly. I like it.

The layout of Route 5, the perimeter circuit, may well be my new favourite design of yours. The flow and the corner shapes are just beautiful. This track certainly is better than the Circle Test Track, which I remember as my previous favourite among your designs. I can only hope the most prestigious series to visit does not decide to use any of the shorter loops.

The graphics are great as well, as always with your designs.
Thank you for this one. Kudos.
