Ok here's my first ever sketch up, so please, be kind It's not entirely done yet, but I could do with a bit of advice. I know that the first hairpin doesn't have enough run off

Eeer, then why did you design it that way? :P

A solid good one, better than my first ever sketchup-attempt back then. I see good speed here.

I sugest putting pit out halfway through turn 1. This will allow more run off.
For the rest of it I like the design. The shorter option looks like it could do with more of the usual track but that's not too relevant. The name's great too, now for some up and down work. it's actualy better than my first serious Sketchup design, still workin on it but it's mostly done.

Then we would be back to the good old pitlane-on-the-wrong-side problem

Yep, i've heard this argument before. Trouble is I kind of boxed myself in with that huge hairpin!

What's wrong to it. It's off the racing line and the cars aren't driving fast at all. If you don't understand me I will make an image showing what I mean.

Well, I'd say elevations cannot be decently done in Sketchup - about the only serious drawback of the software. But, let's be fair - Sketchup wasn't designed to do this exactly, right?

I thought nyou were thinking about shortening the pitlane, so it would lead onto the S/F straight before T1. If it's not what you meant than it's my bad and sorry.

The track i mentioned beforein this thread I'm making does have some height difference. Even a very steep hairpin. You'll see around christmas.

I think SBF already has a track where it's shown. I'm also planning to make a tutorial for track designing in Sketchup. That's to be seen though. Future is a strange and unpredictable thing.

Hi,
I know how to do it, but there seems to be no way of doing it WELL - I mean so that it doesn't look like a series of flat sections joined at different angles. Of course, that's how it's always done, in any format and with any software, but with Sketchup it's just not the perfect thing. "Very not"
