I would have to agree with Mackmot, although it could be a good idea to try a season in Euro F3000 (formerly Italia F3000), before making the move to FIA F3000.

I'll revise what I said above.
--------------------------------------- 1. Karts 2. Formula Vee (For open wheeler experience) 3. Formula Renault 2000 or other European Category (Formula Renault Eurocup, Formula Vauxhall etc) 4.British Formula Ford 5. British Formula Three or maybe Euro F3000 6. Then, FIA F3000 |

id agree with formula vee or the BRDC school then maybe junior formula ford if your not the next Schumacher. Basically coming out of karting drivers do something really low down the order just to learn to drive a racing car then do a couple of tests with formula ford teams where youre most likely to be advised to do juniors first cos there are very few drivers who are talented enough to do the senior championship straight away. The formula renault idea, forget it altogether unless you dont win any races in the senior championship.
Then if you are good first choice should be Nissan because F3000 teams tend to look to that and italian F3000, and if you are a superstar there is so much sponsorship around in spain that the top teams actually pay their drivers. F3 is best if you want to try it the button way and jump to F1 because they have a lot of interest there. American series have such little relevence to F1 and F3000 teams unless you reach CART simply because there is so little TV coverage in europe and its just a bit more difficult to see one live. Of course it depends on youre money situation if you more hard up get as many deals as you can in America. |

In money terms..
Would it be?? Formula Ford - £100,000 a season (all about) F3 - £300,000 a season F3000 - £750,000 a season So you need plenty of cash Formula Vee will cost.. 5 grand a car, another £5,000 for the season |

F-Vee?
What is Formula Vee? I've never heard of it. Sounds cheap though!

Quite similar to Formula Ford. THe series is run by the 750 Motor Club, advocates of cheap motor sport..
There's a variety of chassis, but hte mechanics are all VW parts, so quite cheap. The cars are quite hard to dent, so again that helps keep costs down... It's about as cheap as single seaters come, perhaps 4 grand for a car (won't be the best) and perhaps another 5 grand to run it for the season - that's a total cost.. 750 MC has a website, with cars for sale on a regular basis - plus pictures... |
