Red Bull joins GP of Long Beach Party

The news comes from a press release on the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach website... maybe only a one off... or a first step and we will see more sponsoring from Red Bull in the Champ Car series or teams soon...?! In any case it's fine:

Press Release

Quote:
LONG BEACH, Calif. (Jan. 19, 2006) - The April 7-9, 32nd Annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach will get a boost of adrenaline on race weekend thanks to the addition of entertainment provided by energy drink pioneer Red Bull.

The Red Bull Edge aerobatic plane, piloted by five-time U.S. Aerobatic Champion Kirby Chambliss, will dazzle onlookers with two aerial performances on Saturday and Sunday, while the Red Bull Air Force skydiving crew will drop from the sky and land at breathtaking speed as part of the pre-race activities on Sunday.

In addition, the Red Bull TNT Freestyle Motocross show, featuring X-Games Gold Medalist Tommy “Tomcat” Clowers, will perform aerial tricks during three daily performances on race weekend.

Good stuff! Of course, I've still got my fingers crossed that they become title sponsor for the Atlantics...

I like the idea of the "Red Bull Formula Atlantic Series Presented by Yokohama"

I think it fits there reputation of bringing drivers to the fore front. I producer of good things.

I reckon title sponsorship of the Formula Atlantic series might still be a possibility, but since Red Bull will start a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup team, fielding a Toyota Camry, next season, I think we now know where the cash previously spent on Cheever's team in IndyCar has been redirected at.
