2CV 24hr - 2007

Got to say, the event seems to have come round very quickly this year. Less than 2 weeks away now! Perhaps it's just because it's been the marker for the end of my exams, and after missing it last year I'm looking forward to it even more...

Who else is going to be there?

Dean Watson should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I shall be there for my first endurance race, let alone the first 24hour race. I understand that it is an experience second to none, with an atmosphere all of its own. I am looking forward to the weekend and have already planned to camp over the monday night aswell as I understand sleep is of a premium from friday onwards. Hoping to meet more ten tenthers.

Q

Dean (and everyone else),
Try and get down on Friday evening/night as there is a Bar-B-Q for everyone. If you can make it, PM Terry Scannell and he will contact the person organising the catering.
It's a great event where everyone mixes together, especially at the debriefing (!) on Monday night
See you there.

Sleep isn't a problem once you tune out the deafening roar of all those race engines

One potential word of warning. The Pistonheads forum are holding their PistonFest again. Wasn't really a problem last year, probably due to the rain but this time they have a beer tent until 2am.

Look forward to reading accounts of this - it sounds like something I'd consider trying myself at some point...

It's not too late for this year, Mike - assuming you have the money...

It's something quite nice to have on your "racing CV" - you can say you've done a 24hr race! Not many can say the same. Sure, it isn't quite as glamorous or fast as LeMans, but at times the racing can be just as frenetic, and the atmosphere's almost as good (I'm told)

The money would be the problem this season - my legends deal came together late so I'm having to be shrewd.

I'm willing to bet the atmosphere at an event like this is pretty special - I'll do it one day...

This is top meeting and looking forward to it, tho' this year won't be marshalling, will be on the pits and on the pit wall (so if at 4am Monday morning you see a body slumped over the wall, most likly be me!!)

Sleep during the off periods is ok, the gentle buzz of a full grid of 2cv powerplants acts as a nice background and you tend to become more awake when you cant hear them!

No doubt Asp we shall catch up over the weekend, but during a break nip into the garages and have a chat (hi energy drinks of course!)

I'll be there again this year...I went last year, but was supposed to be reviseing for my exams...I foolishly went doen to sign on to see who was there and found the chief marshal for my BARC Centre...needless to say I didn't get out off the office without signing on!

Looking forward to this year as the my Dunlop Motorsport News guys are one of the support races.

Also having already done one am a bit more prepared for this year. Won't be there until saturday morning however.

Looks like some of out lay in time has been erased as they've cut the piston heads time to 55 mins.

£12 to get in. More details can be found on MSV website

Weather seems a lottery at moment. BBC website states dry however local tv said weekend was going to be wet, so be prepared for anything and everything
