NZSTfan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Gutted for Mitch this weekend. He showed so much promise in R1 to only have his goddam speed limiter fail in pitlane.

For R2 it looked like he stalled on the grid, which essentially put him out the back, so to get P14 was not a bad effort.

I don't know about you guys but every time I watch Mitch race I just think he races very aggressively but also controlled, much like his mentor Mark Webber I guess. To be up where he is in his maiden year of GP2 is nothing short of incredible.

I can't wait for the day he debut's in F1, and hopefully with a good team, because if his TRS, GP3 and GP2 exploits are anything to go by, he will be there or thereabouts pretty quick I reckon.

Would pay good money to see Mitch go head to head with the big guns in F1 but in identical cars...methinks he would surprise a few

Next time eh Mitch, which I believe is Nurburgring, 5th of July to the 8th.

Goat Boy has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
With the departure of Webber, I wonder if enough spots will move over for Hartley to get a seat somewhere.
Also gutted for Mitch, but I am sure his day will come.

Not if he can't get around the first corner...he's qualifying well then running off track on the first lap a lot.

He would have won at Silverstone were it not for the pit limiter

I personally cannot see that happening. He has had his chance, and to be fair has not done anything impressive since British F3 in 2008.

He is good at the simulator work, and will get the odd test to check the real world vs sim world to ensure its all working properly, but I cant see him moving into a race seat, or even a test driver role.

However if he sticks to Sportscars, there is certianly a future there I believe.

Awesome performance from Hayden Paddon this weekend in Finland. In WRC2 he finished 3rd and picked up his first points (15).
Great stuff

Fastest S2000 as well wasn't he?
Lets hope he can score a decent WRC drive. But that looks harder than F1 to break into with so few drives :/

This is good stuff this....

http://www.nzmotorracing.co.nz/bambe...s-weekend.html

We were in Singapore this time last year for the GP and vividly remember hearing the NZ National Anthem as Bairdo took the podium.

And this year we have Earl Bamber there as well. Go kiwi go!

Singapore GP's are often flooded with kiwis and Aussies (you can spot the kiwis a mile off as they try to get to grips with the heat/humidity etc!!).

Great stuff

Mitch had a great first practice, ending up 5th and way ahead of any other rookie, and his team mate Cecotto. Pretty amazing considering he had never even seen the circuit, unlike everybody in front of him!

Qualifying later tonight.

Hey guys I'm new here... big fan of NZ motorsport. Bad news to start with - Mitch crashed on his first hot lap in Qually Anyway, at least anything can happen in Singapore, should make for an interesting race!

Far out that was a good effort from Mitch. Started 26th and finished 11th. Great pit stop strategy going from harder tyres to the softer tyres later in the race. He seems to always finish ahead of where he starts and this sets him up for points 2moro hopefully. Awesome

MIGHTY MITCH, not only went from dead last to 11th, but in doing so he caught and passed his team mate Johnny Cecotto, who is in his 3rd GP2 season and actually won two races in that time. To put that into perspective, Cecotto started 16th and was on the same tyre's and strategy as Mitch, who also went on to set a new GP2 lap record!

Fantastic fight back, well done Mitch Evan's.

Cecotto's a monkey though. Evans catching and passing Abt (the guy everyone thought should've won last years GP3 crown over Evans) was far more satisfying in my mind. Hopefully the lad can nab some points tonight!

Agreed HP, however the fact is that Cecotto has won 2 GP2 races, and at the start of the season he was being tipped by the likes of Autosport to be a real Championship contender. The GP2 commentators are the real 'Monkeys' in GP2 racing, raving on about Palmer being the fastest man on track, shortly after the screen pop up announced Mitch as setting a new lap record! Maybe 'Bunnies' is the right description for these two opinionated motor mouths.

Fingers crossed for a clean run tonight.

I can't stand Will Buxton behind the mic - his constant gushing about the Brit drivers is vomit-inducing. Martin Brundell's son is a far better selection. Though sadly he's been replaced for Singapore with the vanilla Jerome.
