smokinJ should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
data sharing??

with all the cars seeming to make up alliances and part sharing, engine deals, ect
why aint they grouped?

888 and DJR, SBR HRT and half the holden field

it realy puts preasure on the teams trying to stay inhouse

as for instance one of the aglined teams are having a shocker and are a 1 sec behind privateer team.
next season theyre a second ahead of privateer team. And up playing with their Sister cars

how do they find this magical number without some info being swaped???

who can the priv inhouse cars compette??

There are no private inhouse cars on the Ford side any more, with FPR, 888 & SBR making up the entirity of the blue gridspace.

And on the red side, Perkins/Kelly, WP, Tasman, GRM & PMM make up their lot..

Info is swapped. T8 are even open about it, as you can buy customer cars off them complete, ready to race with data.
The more cars you have on the track, the more data you can collect. makes sence to me

yep but is that fair
if you are 888 or hrt would you be giving your latest and greatest to the opersition
so you end up with two teams basicly that can win it
the rest that follow
and the privateers that are left trying to play by the rules

sounds like a reciepe for demise of the series

That's where a control car could come in... Pay $X (where X is very reasonable) to Harrop and receive a nice car with a Hasted engine (both Ford and Holden)... Everything is equivalent between the two cars apart from one having Holden panels and engine and the other Ford.

Somehow it is at a point where a small team don't think they can compete effectively with a possibly slightly overweight and low budget in-house car with bits from various suppliers... when some seasons prior teams like Ellery, PWR in the AU days, Paragon, Faulkner, Mezera, Thexton, the old CAT team from WA, PHR's Budweiser one-off etc etc were a great example of this business model.

We do have a control car. Well, two actually, one a VE Commodore, the other a FG Falcon.

Just because one engineering company (T8) has made a very attractive package,(it has to be, look at how many Ford teams are running it) why should they be penalised and another engineering company benefit from that?

Yep.

Just by doing them on mass and to a price, they could be half the cost and add 100-150 kg and beef em up and then could run for half the season between rebuilds. That's gotta save everybody money surely?

OK much like the aus cars ( the little ones ) but it seems that the ones ran by the Ward boys are always the fastest ?
is it because they still get the best equipment even though it is a controlled format

Ozzie Legend cars on steroids, Next thing you know will be P. Ward Esquire demanding some of the action. No, what we need is 800HP minimum, hard tyres and dodgy brakes, just like series prod used to be, except they didn't have the HP. Then we will see who can race a car and get it to the finish in one bit. The cars are too good and allow the drivers to wring their neck all race long without having to conserve brakes, tyres etc.
