Succession planning... makes sense from a longevity perspective, has you wonder how passive the other owners might like to be, especially owning a share of the best game in town...

No big deal. These things happen.

Smart move by Mr Dane. Ahead of the curve, as always.

Best game in town??

Agreed. All the more reason to be a silent partner I'd say...

Interesting...a succession plan or selling off bit by bit?

Is Roland getting a little worried (as are some on here) about the viability of the series moving forward?

Agreed. Dave Richards had his timing fairly spot on as well.

no they got out at a bargain price at the start of 2013, channels 7 decision to treat the series with contempt and fords announcment to not go ahead with the ford and more importantly FPV meant they sold up their business and got what they could get

In what way did Seven treat the sport in contempt?

As a TV viewer I appreciated that Seven showed all races live free to air Australia wide.

You mean how they offered to pay less than they were paying before, thus causing 3 teams to fold. and a number of others to struggle

From memory, I thought Dave Richards liquidated several assets at the time of selling FPR.

Top of the market would have been several years prior to this sale, roughly when LP sold up.

If you think that contract was lowball just wait till it comes time for Fox to renew....

Also the teams didn't fold due to lack of cash from 7, they folded due to the sport becoming too expensive to sustain itself.

Recall that V8SC were a bit guilty of believing is own spin as the next big thing in Australian sport and had an unrealistic expectation as to how much it could sell the rights. It's one thing to put this sought of stuff out for a tame industry press to lap up, but in the real world of tv rights negotiation obviously counted for less. After Nine and Ten only showed lukewarm interest, Seven knew it had V8SC in a bit of a corner and played it. That's not screwing anybody over, it's just business.

Who managed the v8 media deal? V8SA or Channel 7?

Whose responsibility was it to deliver a media package to its teams?
