The Keihin had awesome pace. Its the same with any caution in a race series. The cars get bunched up and then they pit. Usually the team with the best pit stop comes out up front. Thats the same thing here. The D'Station wasn't going to go the whole race without a pit stop anyway, so I don't know what their strategy was. The pole sitting car was the fastest car, and it won. I think the race was good, but it was short and shortened further with the caution. Autopolis up next, my favorite circuit they visit.

According to Autosport web,
Bandoh says that ACO will grant the series champion of GT500 the right of participation of LM24.
However, it is not by GT500 car and is by LMP1, LMP2, or the GTE car.

Aww, no such potential to see how fast they could be with a GT500 car! Well, I guess at least it means the ACO wants more participants!

The Keihin was 8th and 20 seconds back before the safety car, and jumped up to 3rd (essentially first because the Kondo GT-R didn't stop and the Mola GT-R had a penalty) through the pit stops. Keihin was on the pace in the second stint because Tsukakoshi is a damn good driver, but they wouldn't have been anywhere near 2nd without the safety car shuffling things.

Other series either have open pits when the safety car comes out (meaning gaps are generally preserved before the safety car) or no sorting of classes (meaning there are cars between cars of the same class, preserving some semblance of advantage), but the sorting makes the race outcome become dependent on pit performance as much as anything I've seen in racing. I don't like it, my opinion. Atleast there is overtaking in Super GT, if there wasn't the safety car procedure would be an even bigger problem.

Every team has two drivers. So one being stronger is possible in any team. They didn't win, so I don't see what the big deal is. Everyone had the same opportunity in the pits. Even if the race stayed green they make a pitstop that fast they will gain position. And before the caution the car was catching 7th place anyway. Not every series has the same rules, and I think these are unique and not a problem. The safety car was short and the race got underway.

Nah, ACO will just give in and add a DP/GT500/DTM class in the future... and call it as GTP, having the same performance as LMP2, which becomes an open-top class.

Chances are the series champion will be a factory team so I can't imagine them entering anything that isnt a Nissan/Lexus/Honda. If someone like Xanavi Nismo won the invite then they could run a Nissan engined LMP2 or conversely we would see a Autobacs liveried Acura LMP2.

That is if the invite was taken up.

Anyone else get the feeling that they are giving out LM24 invites to see if they can get some of top teams interested in ACO class cars and potentially run them in the AsLMS?

According to Sports-carracing.net,
team TAISAN might change the chassis into 2012 997GT3R.
It is because 2013 models have disadvantageous BoP.

Oliver Jarvis participates in the Motegi official test from Hitotsuyama racing.
This is not for him to participate in the race and is for exploring the cause of AUDI R8 Ultra out of condition.

So he will be a benchmark for the team to see if his lap times are competitive? If they are not then there is a vehicle issue?

Yes.

This is Taki Inoue's facebook post. What do you think about this post?

"I hear the rumour that some Honda drivers are wanting to transfer to Toyota or Nissan.
It is because the salary of Honda is cheaper than Toyota and Nissan.
Very stupid.
They should appreciate that SGT and FN can be driven in Japan.
Their feeling that it is natural that salary is paid is unusual!
Overseas drivers pay out of his own pocket and wants to drive a quick car.
Actually, Rinaldo Capello drove Audi LMP car without the salary."

If Honda is paying less, they have really done well to obtain maybe the strongest group of Japanese drivers among the three manufacturers. That said, Honda need to hold on to Tsukakoshi, Izawa, Kogure and Yamamoto, letting their top guys go to Nissan or Toyota would be a disaster.

Japanese Samurai, do you know what is the typical salary for a GT500 and/or FN factory driver?

Since mid-late '90, Capello is an official audi work driver. Is hard to believe that he drove for audi (and bentley) LM program for free all these years. Maybe the truth is this: after 2009 season, audi sport changed a lot of drivers (out luhr, werner, biela, premat etc...) and Capello involvment in the audi LM project was drasticly reduced between 2010 and 2011. Before 2011 he was an important audi driver in ALMS (2006 and 2007 champion) LMS and LM (2003, 2004 and 2008 winner). After 2010 season, he usually was the third driver of mcnish and kristensen line-up only at sebring, spa, LM and road atlanta, more or less only in races where were required 3 drivers. Not being so much involved in r18 program, I think that he drove for free just in 2011 and 2012 (2011 had to be the last LM ride for him) ILMC/WEC seasons. His current main program is the italian GT with audi sport italia, as factory driver of course. I think he receive a salary from audi for this. BTW he received a little gift from audi after his win at sebring last year....

The price of the highest annual salary of Satoshi Motoyama was 100 million yen.
This is the highest annual salary in Japanese SGT drivers.

How this would compare to LMP Factory drivers?

Takagi´s statement sounds strange for me. Looking at LMP1 drivers:

I cannot believe that Audi or Toyota drivers are here just for fun. Rebellion and Strakka the same, maybe Leventis and Cheng not. At ALMS, Graf and Luhr surely are paid but I´m not sure on some Dyson drivers.

And in LMP2 one driver is silver, theorically Silver means amateur so wage isn´t expected.

DTM is suppossedly in the same ball park, more for the ex-F1 guys that are brought in for PR reasons.

In BTCC the question is: How much do you pay...
