Yoong Montoya should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Portugal 1993

I was just wondering how many of you saw it and what you thought of it. TGF beat Prost by less than a second! It sounds good to me (not that I'm a big TGF fan, I respect him though).

There was some annoyance IIRC from Prost about how hard Michael defended. However in the race Prost was quite careful to seal the championship.

Thats the race where Hakkinen outqualified Senna in the McLaren! Remember that even though I was only 13.

And he crashed out in the race. Senna retired with an engine failure. Prost indeed was taking it easy. Sealing his 4th WDC while Schumacher took his second victory. Looked like a good deal for both frontrunners. The race itself wasn't really that interesting, compared to other Estoril-races in the past that is.

Do we really need ANOTHER thread devoted just to the exploits of Michael Schumacher. How about just ONE thread titled 'TGFs best races' or something like that???

This was covered really well in the McClaren documentary that was on at the time.

Mika was pleased at beating Senna, but said it was Senna's consistency in the races that he found hard to match. A great qualifying lap, Woke Senna up a bit!

Mika was also really upset after throwing it off the road in the race. He needed a bit on consoling because he was looking good. The team told him not to worry his time would come. Perhaps a longish wait, but it did!

I might have to dig out that tape. It was a great series.

I'm doing this off memory, but didn't Prost stall just prior to the parade lap (or was it just at Monaco and Hungary).

Schumacher drove well, but the race was Prost's if the championship he wanted so badly wasn't on the line.

Ironic now...but at the time MS had just the one win and his second seemed to be taking an age in coming (just like JPM now ).

IIRC MS was originally going to make 2 tyre stops in that race but when he found himself in the lead the team decided not to bring him in again. Schumacher was leading by a couple of seconds until he got stuck behind Lehto's Sauber who thought MS was Patrese and Prost caught up.

At the time Benetton had finally got it right with their TC that they would illigaly use it in 94 and 95. The car did it.

Wasn't it Estoril 1993 that Berger came out of the pits and went straight into the wall on the other side?

He could have but Schumi shut the doors on him after Brazil. After that the only Benetton with TC was Schumi's

Let me guess, Schumacher only went faster than Nelson Piquet in their first race as teammates only because he had the whole Benetton team shut their doors on Piquet?

No, I was only joking about Jos and the TC. If Schumacher was cheating with it, his teammates must have been cheating with it as well. Unless Schumi stole their TC of course...

Okay, I'm only messing with the Schumi jokes, but the things some people say about him are laughable. Nothing against anybody on this board.

Going back to topic it goes down to history that Schumi was nothing without TC in spite of having the best ford engine.

Do you have to lower the level of discussion on this forum by calling names. Too bad Schumi attracts such low life trolls like yourself. Too bad the moderators in this forum let you get away with it.
