Same article says Pippa Mann and Tristan Vautier are in for Coyne at Milwaukee and Iowa. Apologies if mentioned before. http://www.indycar.com/News/2015/07/...r-at-Milwaukee |

KV Racing has been fined $5000 after Sebastien Bourdais' race-winning car from last weekend's IndyCar race at Milwaukee was found to be underweight. -- It is the third time in four seasons that a race-winning car has failed a technical inspection. Serious racing... they sure want to surpass NASCAR in laughter Last edited by bjohnsonsmith; 16 Jul 2015 at 13:46. Reason: The animated Gif is out of context. |

Yeah, the penalty needs to be bigger. It just adds to the list of questionable rulings.
With the state the series is in right now, I would prefer teams be deduced points or penalized during the race instead of being fined. |

Does it say anywhere how much underweight it was? 1lb is still under but 50lb could explain his stunning speed

For 2 of those seasons Derrick Walker was in charge of the competition department. Not a coincidence that the penalties have been becoming very strange lately. Your ignorance is astounding. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...ties/70737322/ Quote:

But I guess at least in NASCAR they (usually) give some actual fines and point penalties, instead of these laughable candy money fees in ICS. There's no incentive to run legal if you cannot be disqualified after winning. Of course if you do not place on podium it's different case, but if you are only interested in top positions sky's the limit... Last edited by bjohnsonsmith; 17 Jul 2015 at 16:15. |

With 4 races left, are there any silly season rumours regarding drivers for 2016?

Anything can happen when you make the final race a double points race.
If Rahal can win it without the help of the double points round, it would be one of the craziest seasons for a driver, team, and manufacturer. |

Why does the series keep shooting itself in the foot every time something goes vaguely right? The internet exists and this isn't North Korea, there's no chance that a gagging order could possibly work in the favour of the series.
From the responses to the criticism they have implied that this isn't in response to the Carpenter / Karam spat and that would have played out much as before. So am I to deduce that it's more to do with drivers etc complaining about the return to pack racing at Fontana, and that after a violent crash that could have been a lot worse in the conditions that drivers aren't allowed to express their anger at the series for breaking a promise and risking the drivers' lives? There's bound to be less serious controversial decisions (e.g. penalties have been applied completely randomly this year), are teams and drivers no longer allowed to complain? I seriously hope that they don't start applying this rule. |

“This rule is not a gag order. We recognize that controversy, tension and drama all have a place in motorsport today. Our drivers are competitors and we have no interest in eliminating the emotion and passion that is an integral part of our sport – or limit the content for media covering INDYCAR. "
Talks about contradictory PR nonsense. At least in North Korea, on top of the 28 approved models of haircuts, there are three allowed emotions: happy smiling, praising the God Leader in charge of country of greatness, and finally hating South Korea and all the other ignorant pig nations. In IndyCar, you are only allowed to smile and praise the series. |

It's the sensitive nature of the internet era that we see more of this control freakery on the books. They are frightened if a driver says something, it goes viral and they think it damages Indycar, they can stitch the 'offender' up and be 'seen to be doing something'...etc

In the light of rule 9.3.8 Detrimental Competitor Conduct, this would be a good time for the IndyCar Driver's Association to show a united front.

Mind that FIA and Nascar have more or less the same rules on criticism.
Anyway, it's incredible that IndyCar announced it in a way that everyone would start complaining, it was so silly. They could have said it in private. Critics would have complained anyway, but it would be much less heated. |

Firestone will be debuting their new rain tyre at Mid-Ohio, which has a silver stripe, rather like the red option tyre. Whether they use them will depend on whether the weather is fine or whether the weather is not.
