Speedcafe's Erebus To Holden Article

There is no mention of support from Holden at all..

The release is slightly wonky too.. kinda suggesting that Holden wins so if I buy a Holden, any Holden, Erebus will win too

I definitely heard mutterings of an alleged drug test anomaly regarding stimulants around the time of the split.

To be somewhat expected though, the rationale behind the Benz switch was something like "we always had a Benz as a family car"..... Erebus has never been a team that front footed their issues, they've often come forward with excuses and reasoning that in many cases made no sense... this is just another.

How and when the Dragon interest in car #4 is weaved into the story will be interesting...

Yeah right, if you are talking about a T8E chassis, you are up there at the pointy end, but not if you are in a Walkinshaw chassis...

Anyone have any idea on roughly how much more buying two cars from 888 would have been compared to the current deal with Walkinshaw ? I'm guessing Erebus will be getting the two non HRT cars from last year.

The issue may have been more one of supply than price. 888 seem to be able to sell everything they build (and more) while WP has probably 3 chassis left over from last year...

If the Erebus car is a WP customer, its not likely that 888 will have manufacturing capacity *cough cough* to provide front suspension to them..

That said, the SupaShock package previously on the Benzes should be adaptable to the Commodore, since WP has trialled its use in the past...

Not sure its wise to stray from what the motherhip is running, and still expect some sort of technical support. Didn't work out so well for LDM, when they tried to reinvent a perfectly good wheel.

With respect, I think the Hackett story is very relevant to this thread.

The tread is about how Erebus does things in an unusual manner. Surely getting rid of a driver who was an Aust. Formula 3 champion and twice Aust. GT champion is unusual.

If there was something wrong with Hackett why do Mercedes use him as Director of the Mercedes Benz Driving Academy. Such a firm could not countenance any hints of improprieties.

I have to say that even though this all feels like something of a train wreck, it may well be an example of needing to take one step back to then take four steps forward.

If nothing else, running WP cars is going to mean that they have another team with (largely) the same gear to compare themselves to.

I take her point on Gen 2 as well - until all the details are confirmed, maybe it IS time to stop spending money on developing their own mousetraps and use someone else's.

I can see the pragmatism of doing it, but what it means now is that Erebus has taken what SBR was, an amazingly capable powerhouse of the sport, and now it is no more valuable than LDM. That's the scary part.

Yeah - completely agree and was thinking the same thing after I posted. SBR was a very capable team organisation and it is a very great shame that Erebus has decimated the original organisation it bought.

I don't know where the fault in that lies - with the owner or maybe with the supposedly capable management that was working for her but regardless of who is to blame, it is really sad to see a top-level operation such as SBR and all the capability within it urinated away in such a short period of time.

What happened to the CEO?

Was he shown the door, or still around but in a different, less obvious role?

he was the former MB Aus guy, wasn't he?

It's been mentioned previously that Ryan Maddison is no longer with Erebus.

His replacement has been mentioned a few times.

They pay him a regular wage, and he tows the company line.

Drivers are a very disposal element in racing and unlike regular works places, then to get dismissed much quicker.
