Yep, chunder! Eddy Colanbeen with his Lancia Rally 037, equipped with a 1600cc normally aspirated engine. Ijsboerke sponsored. Pictured in 1987 I guess.

For Eddy Colanbeen in that car it made only sense to compete in those countries, where they had an 'up to 1600cc' category, like in Belgium. He won its title in 1987. I don’t know if he ever raced the 037 in the UK.

BTW, the rear spoiler of that Lancia was ever so ugly!

@ 1975DCS: Yep, his 900 4WD was sold by Anders Norstedt to Morgan Antonsson (AFAIR in anger…), after Saab became more interested in the "home-coming" of Per Eklund than in Anders’ older project.

If I the recall correctly Morgan Brought over his Mitzi Evo and the SAAB to the Super Prix in which a certain Chris cake hired the car for the event! went well init I recall although overheating was an issue.Veiga was also at the event and I recall Arthur saying that Veiga was interested in how the Saab went during the day as he was looking at replacing his car im sure the deal to buy the cars was done at the event?

I think that perhaps there were 5 Saab 9 3. 1, the Antonsson/Viega car. 2, Eklund’s erc winner. 3, the Pike’s Peak car. Not sure but I think Per built 2 cars for the Race of Champions. The strange thing is that I have not heard anything about where they have gone. Could it be that he got paid to build them and after that used them for “spare parts”?

Do not mix up the early Saab 900s 4WD of Norstedt and Eklund with the later Saab 9.3s 4WD, lads!

What do you mean by that Guru? Are you saying that the Antonsson car and Eklund’s ERC car are not 9 3’s cos there origin is as 900?
What do you know of the RoC cars?

To start with: I do not know about the differences between the Saab 900 and the Saab 9.3.

AFAIK Anders Norstedt’s only 4WD Saab as well as Per Eklund’s first 4WD Saab were based on the Saab model 900 Turbo, homologated in Group A from 01.07.1994 on under the number A5525. Norstedt used his one in 1996 and 1997, Eklund his one in 1997 and 1998. From 1999 on Eklund raced a Saab 9.3 4WD, presumably homologated in Group A from 01.02.1998 on as Saab model 900 2.0l under the number A5577. Therefore I guess the 900 and the 9.3 had very much in common, or some of the 900s actually were the 9.3 models. However, the one and only Saab under the 9.3 tag in the homologation list is the Saab 9.3 Aero SportSedan, homologated in Group A from 01.01.2005 on under the number A5677. Such a model was used by Eklund in the 2005, 2006 and 2007 ERC. The model used by Eklund in 2008 and 2009 is not homologated in Group A, but covered in the "List of cars not homologated with FIA but eligible in D1, D1A and D2" since 29.04.2008 as Saab 9.3 SportSedan 2.0t. Correct me if I’m wrong!

AFAIK Norstedt sold his 900 4WD in 1998 to Antonsson, but Antonsson used it first in 1999 and immediately as 9.3 4WD. Another hint that the 900 and the 9.3 did not differ much.

I reckon so Eddi, in my eyes I always thought that Anders Saab was pretty much based on a genuine Saab, where Per's have always been Saab with a hint of Subaru!!

Havent got a clue with the new car!! Maybe a GpN Escort??

Whatever one does in RX respectively the ERC chunder: he needs a Group A homologation number to start with, or having the certain model on that new 'eligible-list'.

AFAIR at least the entire drive-train in Per’s first Saab 900 4WD came from his previous Subarus.
