Interesting how manufactureers (German in particular) are more interested nowadays in getting to grips with catering for obsolete models. The Porsche website now has PDF parts catalogues for cars like 968, a great help not only for numbers, but also to identify how (for instance), a pop up headlamp is assembled! The test will be to see if parts are actually available, and cost...... As the 968 sold in very low volumes in the UK, parts from breakers are very scarce- or broken! |

You can now buy a full four cam engine for the 356 Carrera Mike, it comes from the people involved in the Ring purchase ,Capricorn.
Seeing as most Porsche suspension components are manufactured in Poland, Czech Republic and Turkey makes a nice change having older stuff made 'inhouse'. |

A very long shot here, but anyone have a contact in a Porsche Centre stores, or can recommend a dealer? I've got a list of bits needed for the 968, some I've found on that auction site, but a few will have to be new- if available!
Can't believe that the nearest dealer to Norfolk is now in Colchester! It was bad enough in the early 90s when Lancaster closed down Norwich and customers had to go to Cambridge for stuff...... Could explain why you don't see many locals in new Porkers, except of course the odd Mum in her family runabout Cayenne. |

It never ceases to amaze me what crap equipment some people put in their cars, in this case ICE. I think that's the term....
This wiring has just come out of the 968, pretty impressive haul considering all that it had fitted was a rubbish head unit that turns out wasn't even connected to the aerial. |

Next job after that is to adjust all the sunroof mechanism. Found a useful article on Pelican Parts website but will take several reads to actually understand how the darn thing works. Complicated is an understatement........ |

Back on Winter projects I am now plumbing in the fuel system on Escort..Going to use fancy areoquip, but boy is it complicated working out all the pipe and fittings. Decided to make a trip up to Think Automotive tomorrow and sort the old fashioned way over the counter." Got any fork handles ".

I weighed some aeroquip vs copper . . . copper is lighter so I'm staying period correct in the Cortina, its the next job after wiring is finished, engine bay done, dash next.

Yes Peter, re-imported to Sussex from the West Midlands!
Mike, I do have braided flexi between the moving bits and not moving bits, the copper cracks otherwise! I had a road car years ago that someone had made a clutch pipe for, to bridge the bulkhead and bellhousing they had coiled the copper pipe up like a spring ! |

They break cars as well as mend them so it may be worth a try. Can be a bit awkward to get hold of and not exactly Amazon efficiency but I can help if you want. |

I would guess the majority of owners in Norfolk leave their Porsches in London and travel into the country in a suitably agrarian vehicle for a weekend with the horses and dogs. North Coast types, obviously. |

Yes, for FIA Gp1 battery has to be in original compartment, but not necessarily in original position within it. Mine is on normal tray, which is bolted rather than welded so can move if ever want to fit side drafts....
