FIA GT 2009 Discussion
With threads for the other two major sportscar series in 09 popping up I thought of starting a thread devoted to discussion of the 2009 FIA GT Championship. If anyone has any rumours or news about which teams, cars and drivers we might see next year or next year's calender feel free to post here.
It seems we might have a new car in GT1 with Matech looking to campaign their GT1 version of the Ford GT next year. http://www.fiagt.com/newsitem.php?key=1793 Last edited by rich07; 26 Sep 2008 at 02:19. |

Is the Vitaphone Maserati program done, or is 2009 the final year?

for its final year, I hope that the GT1 class will have a full grid next year, for sure Vitaphone will continue even so their MC12 clearly is outplaced this year, bot JetAliiance and Phoenix are much faster

I think it was said that if Luc Alphand continues with the Corvettes, he'll likely move to FIA GT where there's some competition.

According to an article on endurance-info (Google Translation) Jetalliance plan on staying in GT1 for 2009 and then probably moving to 'GT2' for 2010.

I would hope that we'll see 4 MC12's at the front again for 'current' GT1 swansong.
Does anyone know what Playteam did with theirs as I think that they will be the other 2 if Vitaphone continue, or we may see Bartels squad enter a 3rd car as was rumoured this time last year perhaps? Good to hear Alphand rumoured to be planning on entering his cars - crikey that'll be 5 or 6 Vettes!!!! So Jet Alliance, Gigawave (2 cars?) and perhaps Modena coming across on the Aston front? Will Larbre or Kumpen/Longin continue with their Saleens, got to be doubtful but it would be nice if Saleen put some weight behind the cars for a final flourish!! How about ACA, possibility thay will get hold of newer equipment than the 550? That outfit could be regular winners if they do. BTW, that GT1 Ford GT sounds like a toe in the water job should the new GT1 be a mash up of GT2/GT3 regs...... |

about LAA, the team manager said on Endurance-Info that the team is planing to do the final races of this year FIA GT, so Nogaro, Zolder and maybe Argentina for the finale, he never mentioned competing in next year FIA GT

ACA in a MC12, I would like to see that!! I'm wondering who will drive for Matech? Hope they get some pros and not pay drivers. If LAA are in next year then it would be great to see the Ollies race for them (Spa perhaps). So confirmed in GT1 are Vitaphone and Phoneix, good start |

the Argentinian ACA with an MC12 !!! they run the cheapest car available now, so its almsot impossible to see them switching for the most expensive GT1 out there lol

Subaru; I think if ACA are serious about promoting their race and or team beyond this year's then they'll have to get hold of a 'newer' car, i'm sure they can get some additional sponsorship for it. MC12 seems logical, mind you an Aston might be bit cheaper. Speculation of course! |

There is no indication whatsoever that BMW's M3 will be available to anyone outside of Rahal-Letterman in 2009.

The BMW will not come before 2010.
Who realy wants the RB-Immo Desaster car? After the past years only stupid people work with them. At the moment Gigawave is working on antoher Gt2 project than the Aston. |
