Chief mechanic on the Newgarden car is leaving the Indy program to join the sportscar side for Penske to work on the Porsche program.

Coming full circle, he was an RS Spyder program hire and stuck with Penske since but when you get in Penske's shop would you move on unless you retire?

One car confirmed for what is a three-year deal (plus option of extra two) for Hertz Team Jota.

Not mentioned in the piece but I'd assume at some point there might be an option to expand, maybe coming up to the extension.

Listening to the new TWISC. Fred Mako not confirmed with the works team despite doing a lot of the development work. Could he end up at Jota?

Jani's just treading water at the moment, reserve driver for their Formula E programme. If Porsche have retained him, they surely have something in mind, over and above that, and he'd be a perfect fit for one of Porsche's customer 963 programmes.

I am now very intrigued to find out who will be the recipient of the other WEC bound customer 963.

S365 said Proton tried for an IMSA allocation but weren't successful. So it could still be them in WEC.

We also have not heard any news on Yifei Ye. He has shown to be mega fast in LMP2s and is signed to Porsche Asia. Maybe be offered to a customer or maybe a team from Asia gearing up for a Porsche LMDH customer programme?

All speculation but things have been pretty quiet from his end

Porsche aren't short of drivers. I think Ye will get a seat in time, it's just a little too early given who Porsche can call on, with the likes of Bamber/Jani still in the wings.

Ye, Bamber and Jani will have to wait for customer assignment in GT or 963s, they aren't the 8 chosen factory pilots announced last week. But I wouldn't be surprised to see Porsche guys as the others in customer cars if they aren't needed in GT cars. They aren't dropping the GTD Pro cars are they, so there's seats there as well

I think Bamber will probably already have something in place with Cadi for next year in IMSA.

True, but there are still two seats left.
It'll be interesting to see who gets those last two drives.
What chance Fred Mako? It'd seem a bit odd for the development driver not to get a seat at all.

I found that a bit puzzling as well, I think he will end up driving at some point however.

Sounds like Bamber will end up with Cadillac since he’s now living in America as well but is still on good terms with Porsche with doing the big races and running Porsches still in his team, much like Nick Tandy

In a few of the articles on the Jota car I noticed Singer was also mentioned. Does anybody know what their role will be? are they a sponsor like Hertz, or are they involved in running the car with Jota? I thought it was at the sponsor level, but then was a bit confused because I thought Hertz was going to be the dominant sponsor?

Singer are a supporting sponsor / styling partner.... meaning branding on the car (smaller than Hertz) and some opportunities to get the Singer name around the paddock and vip areas a bit I imagine
