It all looks like a step forward but does it mean the races will be spread out more over the season?

You currently own a Reynard FF84 which is eligible to compete in Class D for cars built from 1/1/82 - 31/12/86. You can race in this class in any regional round in the UK. You still can in 2005, so nothing has changed there. In fact, as the leading three drivers in this class are moving to different classes in 2005, you stand a far better chance of achieving that elusive first class win in 2005. So the perceived 'value' of your car - as a regular class winner - is likely to increase. I don't want any commission for making this happen for you. |

What was the feeling on double headers v single headers? And what modfications would you like to see to the race day timetable? Post 86 (Post 90 to be) usually being first race of the day always seems a bit odd to me...

Double headers are fine over 2 days at the "point & squirt ? " track, but far too busy on a single day more so for guys who are running cars in both post and pre.

I would like more double headers because work always gets in the way with so many weekends to race. I would prefer 6 double headers (12 rounds). This would give people more time to move about to other circuits as there will be less clashes?
I know the team bosses would not like this as they will earn less which is a big issue as it is their income - but they could still work the same amount of weekends if people had the opportunity to travel more?? It does seem a shame to test and do a 15 min qualifying and 15 min race in a weekend. It would be much more fun to do 2 rounds in the day as it will mean less waiting around. We did bring this up last night but it was agreed that if you have a double header then your second race will always have to be last and run the problem of not getting the race if you run late.... |

Occasional double headers were seen to be OK, but the idea of say a 12 round 6 weekend double header format was not. Would you like to compose something for www.clubff1600.co.uk and run it past me for 'editorial approval' prior to putting it on the site? |

The reason I ask is because the only way that it is going to be possible to avoid clashes between the regions, and have time to fit in all the one-off races, is to have fewer meetings in each championship. Six or seven meetings for 10-12 rounds would seem to be about the limit.
The other limiting factor with arranging events not to clash is the dates the BRSCC get at each circuit. These dates probably won't be arranged just to suit FF1600, so to run at BRSCC meetings only would inevitably involve clashes. Guesting on the BARC bill seems the most obvious alternative. |

Six weekends and it's all over kin ell that sounds like fun eh, you don't have to test you know, your probabley as quick on your third lap of testing as you'll be all weekend so why bother unless the circuit's changed or you need to try or run in some new parts.

If this was the stock-exchange ,the term "insider trading" comes to mind, otherwise how come a certain chassis seems to be the item to"invest in"???

Anyway, put a good driver in a well prepared VD86 and it could leave the 'newer' cars trailing in it's wake. Despite all the talk of classes, year of chassis etc., a Formula Ford is a Formula Ford, full stop. Drive the socks off it and see what it will do, don't just pigeon hole the car into a certain lap time bracket because of it's age. |
