125 and 250 musical chairs and rumours for 2006

Its harder to find out whats happening in the smaller classes so if you have any news or gossip post it here.

125cc
Luthi to defend championship, riding Honda (and guess would be that he would continue with Bet'n'Win sponsorship.

Two Aspar Team's one with Spanish Hector Faubel and Sergio Gadea. The other with Mattia Pasini and young spanish 125 champion Mateo Tunez with factory Aprilias

KTM - Mika Kallio

250cc
Hector Barbera & Jorge Lorenzo stay on the same team but riding factory Aprilia's in 2006.

Likewise, Sebastián Porto has made the switch to Honda and taken his Repsol sponsorship with him, in a team managed by Alberto Puig.

Dovizioso to stay at honda

Alex de Angelis is staying with the official MS Aprilia (2 year contact freshly signed) and will be joined by Marco Simoncelli (marco IMHO is too big for 125 anyway)(So i guess Corse got the flick)

Campetella Racing will be back in the fight for best privateer in 2006 have announced that Japanese rider Taro Sekiguchi will remain in the team.

There was a rumour was that Ant West has a factory 250 Aprilia? Anyone know more?

KTM - Manuel Poggiali and Julián Simón (or did i hear that Vincent was mentioned??)

Talmacsi?? Obviously not on KTM next year but he did finish 3rd with a few wins under his belt?

Anything else?

I want Ant West on a really good bike.

I guess the KTM dream has ended before it really got off the ground (wasnt Donington brilliant)

but I certainly hope he can get a top bike and show us what he totally can do

Isn't it about time that Chaz Davies was given a factory ride? I know you could say that about a lot of guys but surely he has shown his ability in the past by comfortably beating most (if not all) of his team mates. Any one got any news as to what he's up to next year?

Australian rider Anthony West, who secured KTM's first 250cc podium by taking second in the wet at Donington Park on his debut with the Austrian machine, is under contract with KTM for another season and should be the team's test-rider. However, a spokesperson for the team indicated that he could be released if he was to be offered another ride.

I don't know why KTM prefers Poggy to West (???). Poggy has been weak in the two last seasons and I think he is now a high risk to any front team. Possibly West has yet to confirm he can mix with the best regularly in dry conditions in a top bike, but I think he is an overall better bet than Manuel.

Alex K has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
He is much better than Ant.
Poggiali had to live up his family tragedy, two years ago his parents died in the road accident. Give him a machine, he'll ride it to the winners circle.

Ah I wondered what happened to the Podge. I thought someone said he had autism or turrets syndrome or something. I really hope Podge can get back up there and make it to Moto GP.

Pound for Pound, I belive that Pog may have more raw skill than West, but at the moment, West is the better rider.

The whole KTM thing has been a bend-over-and-grab-your-ankles experiance for Westy hasn't it?

Give West just one year an a decent bike and then come back to this thread. And dont say he was on the 250 Shell Advanced Honda factory team in 2000 (finishing 6th overall), because his bike wasn't exactly 'factory'. Does anyone remember how they took half teh season to move his footrests, to fit his size?

In 2001, I think the only mistake he made was taking that 500cc ride. And while he did a stella job, I think he would've been better off getting a 250 ride that would have gave him the chance to win races (rather then a possible top 6 finishes). That way at least he wouldn't have missed the 2002 season

Have to admit I find in strange that Poggiali got that ride, and even stranger that Aoyama left Honda!
Never really understood what was going on with the KTM this year, the team have made some weird decisions all round with the way they sacled Vincent (who clearly wont be riding a 250 kaytee!) and the way they handled the Roberts thing.
Also, were't they supposed to be building a superbike, have seen pics of it and it looked awesome!
West is a damn good rider though and deserves the ride for good, he would have done all the development work so why not give him a chance! Bet he dont bring money or summat.
If it wsa me I would have a three rider team on factory Honda's of West, Guintoli and Chaz! Stuff it up the lot of em

Chaz Davies appears to have a works-backed ride for 250s. Should be very interesting to see how much further he develops

Yeah I saw this earlier today also, very good news for Chaz, hes a very good rider and is capable of doing very very well if he has good equipment.

I'm happy that Chaz has got a half decent bike. It's not works but it's an improvement over what he had. This is a very good chance to show more of what he can do. Though without a generous sponsor theres no chance of getting a full factory bike, no matter how good you are.

great news for davies , that kid can surely ride.

i wont get into the ant west v's manuel poggiali debate because there isnt one (can ya guess my view )

i have been a huge fan of KTm since they came in but they have lost my respect now by making him a test rider , stupid , stupid move.

allthough aoyama may spring a surprise or 2

Oh I duno, he was a lot better last year than the year before I think. He was leading in Donington I think and was podium quality a few times otherwise!
Good news for Chaz, just hope the bike is decent, they reckon its basically 05 factory spec so should be better than what he was on last year. Though in fairness the Germany bike was always quick through the traps all year

heard that ant west has signed with an aprilia team based in germany. its not a factory bike though
think his team-mate was to be dirk heidolf - was this chaz davies' old ride

i dont have a problem with ktm signing podge - think west asked to be released.... aoyama on the other hand is a shock, why would honda japan let him go
