No not a joke Michael thought he had out driven Mansel. But the only reason he won was that Nansel's car had broken an exhaust header and lost considerable power giving the race to Michael. Thats the reason Mansel was smiling while Michael was spouting off.

Why do you ask the question when you know the answer.

Why not you didn't know the answer about Michaels first win.

I did, but I was probably asleep when you posted!!!

Mansell was doing his usual job at the 1992 Belgian GP, dominating the race, but due to some thoughtful tactics from a certain TGF (seeing his team-mates tyres blistering, he pitted first), he managed to take the lead in the confusion of all the pitstops.

Mansell soon closed the gap to TGF to around 5 seconds, but then his exhaust broke (leading Murray to believe his engine was about to go kaput), lost power and he finished 22 seconds behind.

Senna would have been a deserving winner. He stayed out on slicks for oh so long, and pitted for wets just when the rain was about to stop. Very unlucky.

TGF fell behind team-mate Brundle after a slight off. Following closely, he later said that he saw his team-mates tyres were starting to blister due to the track drying out, so gambled that the rain had finished and pitted first.

Which proved a masterstroke I guess, as he took the lead and won.

was it Brundle's turn to pit? if yes then thats wrong, if no, dont see anything wrong with TGF pitting first even if he saw the blisters, Brundle should know better that his tires were 'damaged' and should pit ahead of TGF since he's in front.

Does it really matter. Does anyone seriously believe Nigel "Big Sook" Mansell had any chance against MS in the long term.

Apart from DC and Button, he is the most overated driver in British history.

Why don't these former 'hacks' just retire and stay quiet.
