Yes JV does seem to be getting on with it doesn't he!
But the Ferrari, it must be close to averaging 3/4 second a lap quicker than anything else when it runs on same day? Ominous... John Paul Mountain was driving the 21 V8 and Gary P driving the 20 V10 today is that right? |

He likes the new car anyway ... and (knock on wood) the reliability has been retained so far. I think Nick will be in the new car F1.06 tomorrow.

But yes, Jacques and the BMW's are looking good at the moment. At least on pace w/ the McLarens. But this is only testing. Anyone know how many lap stints he was running? |

It'd be the F2004M presumably.

As in most testing at this time of year there was a variety in today's test.
_____________________ Gene's time, however, was set in a hybrid Ferrari F2004 fitted with a V8 engine, a theoretically much faster car given the stricter aero rules introduced in '05 by the FIA. http://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/formulaone/21697/ __________________ The above article also has Nick driving the new BMW car. I'm pretty sure he was driving last years C24B, same as yesterday. |

I'm glad to see BMW up the game by testing two cars this week and last. That bodes well. As for the 2004M, it should have some modifications making it closer to a current spec car.
How about this for some "crack" reporting: "While the new Ferrari 248 F1 was being unveiled and tested at Mugello, test driver Marc Gene was kicked off the Italian team's Barcelona test by setting the pace in the V8-powered F2004M. The Spaniard, driving the F2005 V10, completed 88 laps recording a best tome of 1:16.583s - a second clear of the Michelin runners." from: http://f1.racing-live.com/f1/en/index.html So apparently Marc Gene set the fastest lap of the day in a F2004M V8 / F2005 V10. He was then promptly kicked off the Italian team's test. |

These early times were posted on JV website chat. I'm not sure of the accuracy as it seems quite early for times to be reported.

Like you say accuracy confirmation needed but, well, McLaren seems a bit sluggish compared to the other heavy hitters, have they been running with weights in the tanks?!

Just looking at the times doesn't mean anything, you'd have to be at the track taking notes to really have any sort of clue as to who is quick or not. |

IIRC correctly, it seems that a second is a pretty common gap between hybrids and full-out 2006s.
Who is taking bets on them being faster than last year in Bahrain? |

Yep, snow and F1 do not mix. Too bad, I was looking forward to seeing Massa and Schumi in identical cars.

So that's why Honda have changed to a creamier shade, - they knew the snow was coming and thought it would be a bit odd seeing just Red logos and tyres going round in that weather!
