Go back to 2008 and it would have been amazing to think that by 2011 the likes of Alonso, Hamilton, Button, Schumacher would be considered "half a dozen others" in the battle for runner up. Alonso and Hamilton were expected to duke it out for years to come. Hell even Raikkonen if he didn't get bored with F1 and the almost forgotten Kubica. Instead it's Vettel cleaning them up, and Button's really turned his career around since pre-2009.

Out of his own mouth - McLaren had the best car at Spa and Monza.

Hmmmm, yeah that is unusual. Lewis setup at both Spa and Monza seemed to be wrong. In comparison Jenson had a better car setup. Lewis seemed to have too much downforce at Spa(at least it seemed that way, as he got overtaken a lot, then starting coming back into the race, until the fatal crash!). At Monza, it was too much downforce(McLaren were expecting to be racing the Red Bull not the Mercedes) and the gear ratios seemed wrong.

It does seem to be a weakness of Lewis. Setup wise he can get it quite wrong sometimes. He can driver around it on occasions and score decent points. Button seems to know how to set the car up better. However if the car is badly balanced he can't drive around it like Lewis can.

I can't see the McLaren being a match for the Red Bull in Singapore or any of the remaining circuits, only Brazil I think they might have a chance.

The Red Bull of Vettel was half of a second per lap faster, using a similarly high down force, low geared configuration.

Red Bull played to their strengths (good on the bits that weren't straight). So, not sure why Hamilton/McLaren didn't (good on the bits that are straight).

Button now in the top-tier making it 4? Yeah why not? He won a title (as Barrichello, Webber have proved, still not easy in the "best" car), Has got some strengths unique to him, yep, JB you're in!

JB has been as good as, and better than, most from Monaco onwards, but then I've always thought he should be in the top 4 anyway. Some of his drives have been scintillating this year. On current form, he would not be the one I'd drop if it were top 3 either, although that could change I guess.
