Formula Ford Festival 2005 - FF1600 to take centre stage

Anyone got any comments on the news that the Festival will revert to having FF1600 as the main event this year?

It is confirmed by the BRSCC and reported on a website that you sadly can't access just at the moment.

Fantastic.

does that mean they will let as many FF1600's in as people want rather than turning them down as in the past???????

And. Are we going to get as much time on track as the Fiestas........ ;o)

No, I was wrong. I was looking at an earlier version of the calendar - not number 12, which is where we are up to now!

Its exactly what ff1600 should have had zetec has never really been as good, but wondering what affect doing this will have on the other two stand alone meetings at combe, and silverstone though?

Still i for one will be there and always thought FF1600 ruled anyway!!!

Knowing that we have official BRSCC members viewing and contributing to this Fourm, I wonder if they would like to air their views on the possibility of FF1600 being elevated in their race programmes?

Something like: More laps per race/practice, time based races (ie. 30 mins), reduced entry fees.....

Alan - I would agree that at certain circuits FF1600 doesn't get as good a deal as it might, particularly given the level of support for the category at those circuits. I would say that thirty minutes is too long however; the near-standard twenty tends to drag at time. On entry fees - I don't think FF1600 drivers should get a better deal than those in any other class as that would be unfair, but equally they should not prop other championships up.

At the moment the Classic Championship is due to be at Snetterton on Festival weekend. That might change - we will try to find out.

IMHO that SHOULD change.
Since the very first year of Formula E in 1985, it was always on the Festival programme and produced many a splendid race. We even let Johnny Herbert qualify his Festival winning Quest out of session with us that year !
After the 'political demise' of Formula E, Classic was formed and needs to be at the Festival. There is a 2005 precedent in MSV switching from Snett to Brands for A1GP support duty, so have the final round of Classic at Brands I say.

It's rather up to what the drivers and the BARC want to do, isn't it? Presumably they arranged it that way in the first place - it was always going to be Festival weekend, and now it just has added significance as far as FF1600 is concerned.

I'm surprised no one has commented on the remarks made by the likes of Alan Wardropper etc in this weeks edition of Motorsport News. They are far from complimentary towards FF1600....am I alone in spotting this?

I don't read it anymore.

Especially as they had a pop earlier in the year at the Formula Ford Competitors for not embracing JP's MSV Formula Fords.

They are probably better sticking to Rallying and Stock Cars.......

It really doesn't matter what anybody says about FF1600. 12 cars (Zetec's) is not a festival . BRSCC have no choice but to make it a kent festival. It could turn into a massive event because i guess there must be championships on the contenent for FF1600 whose competitors may wish to make the trip. The best bit i read was that the Zetec front runners may consider deal to do the Kent Festival if the cars are available.

Unless you do the winter series the Festival is the last race of the year so the zetec boys should convert their cars! Be worth more money!
