Yes Peter it was my first thought but because I have one at home, it looks quite different. Probably you're right, in this case may there were several different DFI with slight changes. Not too surprising. The manifold is different from mine, not a Swaymar but may be a Zephyr modified unit?
I assume you're talking about IDA, dont you think the hole in the bulkhead was done to allow a big unit to breathe freely (common modification on Ric's cars)? Anyway, what a car (originally red)!

Great project, do you know it's history and CC no. ?

Carb is a DCNF as used in single or triple form.

There's a shadow of some Chinese lettering on the roof and bonnet, so I'm guessing it's seen some action in Macau- IIRC we talked about some ex-BTCC Capris going there way back in the thread?

I know naff-all about these cars but always considered the Capri a thing of beauty. The thread is a fascinating read, even if some of the early pics have now disappeared.

Has had time in Macau.
I’m off to remove a front and rear wheel to photograph these areas. Also will remove distributor to check if the block is numbered! Fingers crossed!

If she retains her original block too, it could be the find of the year!

That's an amazing find, according to Chunterer's database CC5 is the Spice / Pilette 1978 Spa 24hrs winner.
I guess it hasn't seen much action since Macau as it still has the 'Spice Racing' sunstrip.
What are your plans for it ?

I hate to think haha

Mine was a '78 3.0S bought in 1986, but only the tailgate and maybe the pedalbox survive. Shell is a '86 1.6 Laser.
Just about finished, bit more testing then hopefully race in August.

Testing last year...

Car is dry stored at present. I think restoration is the way to go but that will not start for a couple of years as another project has priority!
Finding information will do for now so that when she breaks cover again it will be a “Period Correct” car!
No V8!

Good looking car Sarnie! OK air scoop is questionable may be. Did you bring the rear wing from your job area ?
Zak' before forgetting it under a thick blanket or two it would be interesting to weight it. I guess there are a lot of info to be found to bring it back period correct. And compliant too of course

Thanks Gerard, if you mean the bonnet bulge, I didn't like it either plus it gave me a blind spot on left handers, so I cut it off and made one that tapered down at the back.
Still it came in useful for scooping the snow in winter

Haha, the wing came off a GT3 Viper, so should do the trick

Zak' I guess the picture #3 is from the rear suspension of from… the dark side of the moon ! Without taking another picture, could you please tell us more about the location system of the rear axle? OK the ARB has been moved from upside to down side. But what about the anti tramp bars? By the way, when a thread "makes" almost 50 pages, dont ask if we are interested or not!

Simon, really she looks great. Sorry for the bonnet bulge, easy to understand that it was not the best thing to increase the visibility. May be you use "PSV" (Pilotage Sans Visibilité) also said IFR in your language! Did you weight her already? If my memory serves well you have a Ford big block may be with a Holinger or Jerico gearbox?

Yes definitely needed IFR to hit those left hand apexes.
It's a Modular 5.0 32V Cobra, although a big lump (see below) it's all aluminium so not any heavier than the Essex. Gearbox is a T45, probably no heavier than the Type 5.
Not weighed yet but although it has put on weight ie. bigger wheels, brakes etc., and independent rear suspension added 20kg but reduced unsprung weight by 40kg. I'm guessing around 1070kg.

Apologies for another non CC pic ...

Gerard, I think pic 3 is the front ARB, looking up the left arm, steering rack minus gaitor can be seen top right corner and sump. That's some serious brake cooling in pic 1.
Zakspeed 65, what is your current project then, is your username a clue

Wrong wording Gerald C! Apologies.

Current project, early 90's Space frame car built in Perth by Go Gear Racing.

Zakspeed65 comes from my last major project. Last surviving Zakspeed Gp5 Escort, ZAK-E23/75

No Anti Tramp bars! There is a large intake on both sides just under the lower front panel for brake ducts.

Should it have Anti Tramp bars? I know this car last ran at Macau in 86 and thats it. Nothing since then, so is probably one of the most unmolested surviving cars out there. Although it would seem to me that there must be many more waiting to be discovered out there.

If it's grouo1 then no. They could move the anti roll bar but they could not run anti tramp bars. In fact they didn't run them in group 2 which was far more radical.

Zak, the "snake basket" is impressive, probably necessary in Macao streets. I'm not convinced its really efficient, I had no issue with a single 50 mm air duct fitted on my 505 in Monaco streets. As to anti tramp bars, is questionable. Most Grp1 run only a rear ARB fitted upwards the axle, various diameters from 10 to 14 mm, the arb makes its job and has to keep axle location too. Peter is of course an expert, much more than me, and when he says Grp1 i think he means FIA otherwise its Grp 1,5 lets say '81 BTCC rules.

Simon, c'on, this is a killer! OK, lets hope James won't send us out this time… When you say independent rear suspension I guess you have a complete unit like found on Sierras or Bimmers may be?
May be Zak' could tell us if he uses Race Products products and if they are popular his region of the racing world? They have a modification to add camber on a live axle - Atlas for instance - which looks great. Not really FIA legal though!

Zak, you'll have a better understanding of my pigeon language if you change every "anti roll bar" for "sway bar"…

Same applies for GP 1.5.
