Anyone getting race director this year?

I remember last year race director was all the rage. Pretty much all of us had it. We had a great season to look forward to and the fact that we could see every session live with six different cameras and listen to radio signals from the pits to the drivers and even look at telemetry I think..
Then we got the news that they would only show saturday and sunday, no friday and no warm up then I remember them giving free trials to everyone for most of the second part of the season and I remember it not even working for me after Montreal. $30 down the drain...
As much as I would love to get it this year, one I can't afford it and two I'm still pretty ****ed off after last year. But the good thing is I've found out that I can still log in this year so hopefully I can watch Long beach and the other races on race dirctor.
Does anyone feel the same and will they be getting it this year?

Is this a web-based service then?

Seems pretty intriguing to me.

Details please!

Well, I have just investigated it. The cost is not a lot for the product, and I am seriously considering getting it.

Access to the last 5 years races in the archives is a wonderful bonus - this will enable me to see the stuff I have missed in recent times.

Race Director Payment

When you look at the annual payment option, it seems to be refering to a cost for the 2005 season...

Just a lack of updating graphics, or advertising the price has not changed from 2005, or they haven't got it available for joining for 2006 yet?

Thoughts?

I've been watching the Race Director sign up page for a while, loved it last year it definitely improved my enjoyment of the races having all that telemetry and pit to car radio.

But I was annoyed that I paid for the whole season and they gave away most of the 2nd half of the season for free, hey that's -my- bandwidth you're handing out!!

They seem to have altered the info page to read 2006 season not 2005, and I can still log in using last years password.. however scouring of the fine print leads me to believe I've been auto renewed, and they state that annual subscriptions are non refundable. I'm not too bothered as I probably would have subscribed anyway, but the website is incredibly vague on this point.

I always assume auto-renewal with these things.

Can you give a me a link to the bit with 2006 references? The one I have provided seems to only mention 2005.

I remember last year if you were a Champ Car fan club member you get something like a $5 discount, now they doesn't seem to be the case this year.

I havent used it since last year , In fact I forgot all about it.

Ive just logged on and can still use all the functions so I am assuming that it just rolls over to 2006.

I liked it even though the freebies did kind of annoy me. It came in handy when the SPEED broadcasts were blackouted because TSN wanted the time to butcher it and then show it at 2am.
With TSN out of the picture I am not sure how much I will use it this year. What you do get in the end for the price is good value though, IMO.

Dutton:

Right there on the main Race Director page:

"LIVE SATURDAY PRACTICE, QUALIFYING AND RACEDAY COVERAGE FOR THE 2006 SEASON"

They're showing video of practice & qually now, that's an improvement, wasn't it video only for the races last year?

I'm easily pleased, just watching Friday practice live timing right now is cheering me up

Unfortunately not anymore. Just all the sessions on saturday and then the race. Its $30 which is roughly £15 which I think is worth it.

Dutton, Yup, they only changed it like a day or two ago.

I just logged on and my last years subscription has run out, which is good because I hate auto-renewing things and tend to avoid them. and is bad because now I have to spend more money!

I hope they do those short comedy films in the archive this year..

-S.
