Scammonden Dam - Video??
I'm having my first go at a hill climb in a few weeks at scammonden dam, organised by Pendle and district motorsclub.
I've never seen scammonden before and wondered if anyone has any video footage of a run up there, so i'm not totally blind going into the event. I've seen a few photo's, but they where very old and faided, not very good quality, so any info on this venue would help. Simon |

Manchester Evening News 400 cars in dogging crackdown 24/ 2/2006 A POLICE operation to crack down on outdoor sex at a beauty spot has netted details of more than 400 vehicles, officers said today. West Yorkshire Police used the latest technology to log suspicious cars and vans during a surveillance operation at Scammonden, on the hills above Huddersfield. The operation was started after complaints about a plague of people using the car park for so called "dogging and piking" antics. Doggers are people who gather in secluded locations for sex outdoors, or in cars, often with strangers. Pikers are those who go along to watch. The practice was highlighted two years ago when former footballer Stan Collymore admitting taking part in dogging near his home. View One Huddersfield police officer said a couple who were questioned at Scammonden claimed they came three times a week to "enjoy the view", despite it being 10pm. Chief Inspector Jon Carter said: "These people are causing harassment, distress and alarm. "Residents living in the Scammonden area feel threatened and intimidated. "People taking part in activities at Scammonden may well be committing offences ranging from public order to outraging public decency and we will now look to take positive action against them." He said officers were working through the log of number plates and many people could be getting an unwelcome visit from police. |
