Blimey Wilkie thats Ancient History.
I first read that in picture form on a tomb wall in Giza.

Hillclimb news is much more reactive and faster than Sprint news you know.

A busy day on Sunday.

I lost count on how many red flags we had, although I know Ettores had the main share of them, but we just finished in time and we had no rain.

Scott Moran broke the hill record in the first run off with a time of 36.35 seconds and Martin Groves was second and Martin won the second run off with Scott second. Also Sue Young added another Ladies record to her name.

Sunday at Ettores: 0910 - pork pie
0915 - first car of the day into kitty litter

and it didn't improve!

I was told that there were groans from the crowd every time the Red Flag came out!

Also what is it at Prescott that sees umpteen personnel attend each incident then stand around like one of Lewis's?

Well - we got so teed off with all the delays (running in one of the later classes) that we didn't bother with our last run and went home.

I know the club will point the finger at the drivers - quite rightly - but one of the things getting under everyone's skin in our class was the fact that we were stuck up in the top paddock without a clue what was going on. The paddock geography at Prescott does seem to favour single seaters and invited clubs.

Heavily toned down rant over...

If you mean Steve if there is crash and the rescue unit and ambulance turn up then this is the same for every Midland Hill. If a marshal is any doubt about the seriousness of a incident then they call the unit and ambulance just in case. Yes nine times out of ten we are'nt needed but for that one time it is better we are on scene rather than drinking coffee where we park.

Also we dont incurr any extra time going to incidents to the meeting as we are parked up and ready to go again before the marshals have finished brushing up the debris

BTW 44 red flags on Sunday including medical treatment in the spectator area which stopped track activity and finished by half 5, not too bad going really.

Couldnt put it better myself...

At least the vehicles that attend the incident drive with caution and consideration for anyone that may be on track at the time

Also the tonka toy is scrambled every time as if you need it its on its way and if you dont by the time you have swept up the gravel its back where it parks anyway so again no time is lost..

I think the main reason for all the flags was that driving standards were not as high as they usually are..

Was it down to the reasonably good weather ??
A bit of sunstroke ?

(post and be damned is what I say)

There was one theory that when the floods came in July a lot of litag was washed onto the grass in the middle of Ettores, although this was cleared up as much as possible there is still some lieing in the grass, if a car puts a wheel on the inside then this could have been thrown onto the track.

Dunno how true this is, just could have been drivers trying to hard.

Main reason for most of the red flags were due to the over zealous marshalls at Ettores being over keen on keeping the track clean

Apart from all the stoppages and flags it was still a good event
